Shine
 Hi all,
I am still waiting to run out of my hair stuff to start the curly girl method...but I am wondering what you guys do for SHINE I want the Botticelli curls I have seen on here...the bouncy, shiny, curly, romantic curls.
So does just switching to the CG method transform my curls to shine, or is it a special product?
Thanks to all that respond

I'm new to CG and from what I have read, honey and henna help with shine. I use honey in my DT, cowashes and rinse out conditioners. When the dews are reasonable, I can add honey to my leave in conditioner. Honey is a humectant so be weary if you live in a dry climate or when the dewpoint is below 40. I think 40 is the magic number.

I'm mostly just bumping. My hair developed (some) shine for the first time in my life by going CG. Some people use KY jelly. Sounds strange, but apparently this works. Hopefully a more experienced curly can answer this question.

Mostly just getting it healthy and well-conditioned, but henna (body art grade only!) and/or cassia can help, too, also making it stronger at the same time.

Based on advice from a fellow curly I have had good results using jojoba oil. Once my hair has dried I scrunch and pat about a dime to nickle sized puddle of the oil and the result is a nice, natural shine.

Yeah, if your hair tolerates oils well, jojoba and coconut are both good for shine. My hair doesn't, though.

Henna
I feel really silly for asking, but what exactly is the hennah process...I color my hair with a demi, mainly to get the brassy red out, and I am not for sure the purpose of the henna or if it will affect the color.
This is so much information, and I am a "thinker" personality, so it is hard for me to just jump in and do the CG method...I think I might be overanalyzing the whole thing!

Henna for hair has all the info you need. You can use it to dye (stain actually) your hair a variety of colors, not just red. You cannot dye your hair a lighter color. You mix the mud and apply it to your hair. The processing time varies, but usually measured in hours. Henna can do good things for your hair. It is very difficult to remove if not impossible. Be sure you do a strand test to make sure you have the color you want.
Cassia adds shine and is clear for all but very light hair colors.

Just keep in mind that henna is permanent. You cannot remove it - you have to grow it out or cut it off.
If you want only shine and no reddish color at all (varies depending on what, if anything, you use it with, e.g., indigo, buxus, etc.), stick with cassia, a/k/a clear or neutral henna, although it really isn't henna at all.
I agree, check out hennaforhair.com thoroughly before deciding to do any of it.

Staying with original
I have been reading the hair color board, and it is ok for me to use a demi, I just worried about ruining what little progress I have made with the cg method......please tell me I will wake up one day with awesome ringlets!

Shine is generally dependent on having a) healthy hair and b) not using products that build up or dull it. It'll happen! Just keep taking care of it.
