Thumbs down Trackpad on MacBook Pro

Every so often, the cursor will jump to a different part of the screen, often when I'm typing. Does this happen to anyone else?

Nope

Mine is a year old - but still a MacBook Pro (I just know they change and update regularly)

This happens to me. I try to rationalize it by saying my wrist/palm probably brushed the trackpad and moved stuff around (I have it set up to double tap for a click). It does actually happen a lot less now that I've become more aware of how my arms/hands are situated.

They are very sensitive- perhaps you are touching it without realising as you type.

How weird. It's only a recent occurrence. So it's either a software bug or a hardware problem.

Thanks for helping me troubleshoot. I've had my Mac only 4 months, but I no longer get phone support. I haven't found a solution through Google.

I have a mac mini, and a cordless mighty mouse, and it used to happen to me all the friggin' time. I think therefore it must be a mac thing.

Annoying.

Yes!! I hate this. I've noticed it seems to happen when my other arm or hand is also touching the keyboard part of the computer--not the keyboard itself or the track pad itself. If I move the cursor up to make a correction and type the new letter, the cursor will jump back down where it had been and type the letter there, then jump back up to where it should have been typed.
