Ugh, when I saw his name, I thought, "Oh damn it, here we go!" They are also reporting that he may be from Jordan originally.
They had a congresswoman from Texas on CNN, and she mentioned that they were looking into every aspect of his life, and mentioned investigating whether there was some plan to infiltrate our military. Jeez. You know there are folks right now thinking that very thing. Did she have to say that on TV?

He was an army psychiatrist.
He was American (even in the dumb MSNBC since of the word...."born and raised).
Apparently CNN is reporting he was harrased for his ethnicity, some of his colleagues have said this is a total surprise, BUT they're also reporting that he was being watched for posting on the internet somewhere about suicidal rampages.
Don't know why he wasn't confronted about this!
And I am so sick of people (i.e., CNN getting false reports from representatives who know not of what they speak) assuming based on how someone looks and their name that they're not American.

My roommate said this exact mess. And I had to set her straight. She was going on and on about how she's always suspected there are sleeper cells. I told her that you probably have a case of someone who is mad as hell about getting deployed again and didn't want to take it anymore and acted out homicidally (and potentially indirectly suicidally....kind of a suicide by cop thing). Because who goes guns blazing on a military base thinking they are going to survive? And he targeted people he knew, which points away from "middle eastern muslim whacko out to kill anonymous American strangers" and towards "disturbed american soldier kills colleagues on hit list".

I am so so sorry all of these people died because he lost it and didn't get the help he obviously needed. My heart goes out to the families.

There's a live press conference going on right now, and a general just stated that the shooter was shot by authorities but was NOT killed and is in stable condition.
