Default CG for the first time

Last night I started my CG routine. I used a Herbal Essences shampoo to strip my hair of all the -cones that had piled up, then used Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula with Vitamin E Deep Conditioning Protein Pack as a deep conditioner. I mixed it with a couple of tablespoons of melted honey after which i put my hair up in a shower cap for about an hour and a half before i rinsed it out. i read somewhere on the forums that honey lightens hair if left in for hours, and i like my dark tresses, though i had planned to leave it in all night until i read that.

this morning i did the CO-wash with Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition (in the new dark green bottle) and rinsed that out, then conditioned my hair as usual and put it up in a clip for a few minutes as i shaved and did other things to give it time to soak in.

after my shower i put Ion effective care treatment intensive therapy protein leave-in conditioner as my leave-in styling product into my hair, and am now waiting for a half hour with my hair in a towel for the warmth of my scalp to help the conditioner soak in. i want to try that Aloe Vera Gel that everyone's raving about, buy i'm afraid it will weigh down my curls instead of defining them like i want. i plan on going by my towns local health store to see if i can find any pure oils though like coconut or almond oil.

i'm really hoping this will lead to well defined curls, like the ones i see in pictures posted by CGers, because i know my hair can do it, but i've just never been able to bring my inner curl out. hopefully this method will work.

does anyone have any suggestions though? i'd realy appreciate it!

hello curl sister,
i have also been no poo for a few days. the honey will only lighten your hair if used at room temp. once you warm/melt it you should have no problem. when i started i just washed one last time with poo and co-washed right after with suave naturals (sea breeze). i put on some CG friendly leave in, finished with gel, and let air dry. i might try some homemade recipes for DTs next time i co wash, but i wanted to keep it simple to begin with. i cant really tell you if your products are not CG friendly but its not difficult to tell just make sure there aren't any cones in them. your routine sounds pretty good. have you seen a difference? i definitely have and i'm loving it! hope this works out. curls are beautiful!

I've kept fine tuning my routine as i've gone on. i haven't done a DT in a while because i haven't had the time. I started to use Suave coconut conditioner as a cowash because the GF triple nutrition was too thick--but its still good as a rinse out conditioner. i used to mix it with some gel and scrunch my hair with it, but i've found just using herbal essences gel without the conditioner mixed in works better. my hair is more defined and shiny.

i still want to try the almond and jojoba oil( i think it was jojoba; it may have been shea butter or something like that) but i'm afraid that the line my local health store carries isn't the right stuff, and since i can't remember what the product line is called, its not much help to anyone else either who is wondering as well....
