Default Done with Kinky Curly Custard

Are there any other 4a/4b folks who have given up on the KCCC?

I've been transitioning for more than a year now and decided to try KCCC because of all the rave reviews on this msg board and others. BIG MISTAKE. Tried it three times on my 4a hair and it was horrible. It shrunk it tremendously and created dry, nappy curls. Totally disappointed because I spent a great deal of cash for the KCCC, Knot Today and Come Clean. Love, love Knot Today and Come Clean, but KCCC is going back to Whole Foods tomorrow. I truly don't believe KCCC works for 4a/4b hair. I got better results combining Knot Today with Miss Jessie's.

Thoughts?

My hair hates gel-like products in general, but I've been told by people who use it (My cousin) that they consider it to be a summer product.

It's not very moisturizing, so they only use it if there's a lot of moisture in the hair to compensate for that, and (i'm assuming by your name) that you're from Indiana, it's been very very dry here lately.

Default Me too

I tried it for the first time this morning (again due to the rave reviews from 4b users) My hair is a hot mess and whats worse I have meetings today. I used it on dripping wet hair as instructed and it came out a gunky sticky ick white producty mess.

Glad I'm not the only one with this issue. Starting to think that some people are getting paid to post on these boards to get you really hyped about a product that doesn't work for everyone.

Did you use the product on clean hair? You may need to clarify your hair @Overproof

I do have to agree that it is a summer product in my opinion though some people use it year around. However everybody's hair doesn't like gel.

A product to make tranistioning EASIER!
Scissors. Think of it like this, your mixing dirty clothes with clean clothes, you can use all the clothes detergent you want (hair product) but the dirty clothes (permed hair) will never be clean, will eventually get old, raggedy, and eventually start shredding/breaking(natural&permed hair). Don't waste your time. Transitioning for most is a fight that relaxed hair will win!

All you ladies with the white junkie mess and jheri curl look: try using waaaaaay less product! I had this issue the first two times I used it. Then the next time I used way less on sopping wet hair. It sholdn't feel like you have anything in your hair after you have put it in. It may still dry a little crunchy, but I have found that scrunching the hair removes the crunch. ANother thing that works is emulsifying the gloss pomade between your hands and gliding it over the completely dry hair. It removes the crunch and your hair comes out ridiculously gourgeous, shiny and soft. It's worth a shot! Good luck!
