Unhappy Need Inspiration - tight waves instead of curls

My hair is a combo of 3c and 4a but instead of being curly, it's wavy. It's driving me crazy because it straightens so easily. When I comb or brush it, it's straight until it starts drying and even then some parts stay straight (like the ends around my edges). I wouldn't bother me so much if my hair was longer but it's only a chin length bob when blown out so it's frustrating. I would love to see some pics of you girls with this type of hair because I really need some inspiration.

I've attached a picture of someone with hair exactly like mine...........only much longer.

What is the difference between a "tight wave" or a curl? I'm not trying to be smart btw lol just asking...

Do you think it could be heat damage from blow drying? Or has it been growing like this since BC?

For everyone who's wondering what she means, please refer to this LOLworthy thread I posted in 4b last year.
I think she is saying that her strands look like the ones I put in the purple box. Most of mine look like that as well. I describe them as kinks with coils on the end. I only have a few strands like the one in the blue box which I refer to as coily (if they were looser I'd say curly, but really it's all curly right?). And I have some like the one in the red box which I refer to as wavy.

Anywho, I don't comb my hair anymore. I only brush it as round two of detangling in the shower after I go through it with my fingers. Once I've applied my products and I'm dry I can't do any tight ponytails or the curl pattern gets pulled out--no lovely kinky waves like folks with a stronger curl pattern. It takes a serious rewetting to make it return. I prefer to sleep in loose pineapples rather than braids/twists because they don't pull out my curl pattern as much overnight.

Perhaps someone else can offer some advice beyond leave the fragile kinks alone . . .

Ok I think I understand now. My hair looks like that b/c I manipulate it to help with shrinkage. In other words, my hair is very curly. However, I pineapple it at night so it won't shrink, and as a result I have less definition- thus my hair looks like the purple box (loose curl and some "tight waves"). I prefer my natural texture but I gain an inch with the manipulation.

I was confused b/c I would refer to all of this as "curly" but I do understand now why someone would call it a "tight wave."

As for the OP, that is interesting that you posted this. I hope some others with that texture will see this b/c I'd like to see it as well.

It would also help if you posted pics of your hair, if you feel comfortable...

Now that I have been using henna, my hair is a combo of the purple box and the blue box. The henna has weighed the hair down and stretched the curls out a bit.
