Lightbulb Alternatives to a steamer

I was wondering if anyone ever tried using the steaming method with a conditioning cap by just using the heat from the shower.

The reason i am asking is b.c as bad as i want one, im on a tight budget and i have more important things to spend my money on right now.

I really want to try steaming though.

I wondered this too but IMO, I don't think that you could get the same benefits of steam in the shower as you could with steam from the steamer. I havent bought one, yet, but I have tried the shower steaming, the heat cap and I even tried to do the steaming at the gym. The heat cap suffices, because that's all I have, the shower steam was a waste to me because unless your bathroom is small I don't see it being very effective- and I don't take showers that long. And I could not for the life of me stand to do the gym steam room- I couldnt even stand in there for a minute!lol.

I'm going to treat myself with a steamer because I really don't see any negatives. The price will ultimately pay for itself in a few uses- especially since some salons charge ridiculous amounts of money for it~ from an extra $30-$70! SMH
Maybe it could enhance the curl pattern.
BUY IT! Save up for it. It'll be there when you're ready to buy it.

I use a towel. What I do is put a plastic bag on my head after adding conditioner and heat the towel up on the radiator or in the microwave and then put it on my head for about 20-30 mins

Check out curlynikki.com. There was an article a little while ago but I believe the lady said you can dampen a towel, nuke it for a sec and then wrap it around your deep conditioned tresses or stand near a pot of boiling water, no cap. The cap stops the steam from touching your hair.

I followed a lady's step-by-step homemade steam treatment when I deep condition and my hair was way more soft and moisturized than usual.

Hope it works for you!

I read on the LCHF that you could wrap the hot towel around your head, throw on a plastic cap, and throw on a heat cap over it to perpetuate the heat/steam factor. This is how I do it and I like the results.

This is basically how I've been doing it as well with great results.

Wait, my shower is in its own separate room,( i have a weird powder room setup, its actually 3 rooms combined) so would it actually work with a shower cap in the shower? The shower room is 6 by 4(dimensions).

Alright so this sounds like the plan for me. In my budget and achieve the same results. I heart the women on this board
