Default Things to do in town when your bored?

Last night I went for a drive through town and I realized there isn't much to do at all. We have a few resturaunts, bars, parks, and etc but no places to go out after 10pm on a weekend and no place to go after 9pm during the work week.

What's in like your neck of the woods?

Worse. Pretty much shuts down after 9ish pm every night. Oh well - we picked it. After 8 pm it might be Dunkins or some bars I would not frequent.

Stay home and watch Nick at Night. There isn't really anything to do in my town either. They pull in the curbs after 9pm.

We're a metro area of over 1,000,000 people, so more than you'd have in a small town! Most nights I know of at least 5 concerts happening, whether or not I want to go to any of them. We have some all night restaurants, late night bowling alleys, mini golf, a huge arcade which is apparently popular, etc. An hour out of town there's an observatory which does public tours, movie theaters with late showings, and usually in the evenings we have some sort of theater events possible the last half of the week/weekend.

There are lakes where you can fish or rent boats not too far away, caves to explore, mountains to hike, and many outdoor paths. We also have a great local restaurant network.

Yet people here say there's nothing to do and the town is boring.

Amazing. You express that you just realized there's not much going on there at night - which sounds like you probably make it entertaining for yourself. It surprises me how much others can't do the same where I live, since there's so much already here. After living in a small town for four years I know about lack of anything to do and am grateful we have stuff going on!

Um, no. I'm not walking across a cow pasture. Do you know what comes out of cows? Ew, I'm not stepping in or around that. And the smell?

I cannot wait to move because we live in a similar area. Absolutely nothing to do after 9 pm except go to the movies. Doesn't affect me much anymore now that I have a baby but hell, I would at least like a 24 hour pharmacy or something to go to if I really need something. Living in the sticks can really be the pits.
