Default Stretch Marks!!!

I'm not sure if there's a thread about this already, but I just wanted to see how many of my NC pals have had to deal with these old buggars after pregnancy!

If so, did they just go away for some of you?

Who has moderate ones, severe ones?

What's the best way to get rid of them, or if you CAN even get rid of them without having a tummy tuck???

I have not been pregnant. But I did get quite a few on my breasts and hips when I went through puberty. Its been a few years and they have mostly faded. I used this stuff called 'bio oil' as well as pure vitamin e oil and they helped.

Stretch marks are permanent. However, they naturally fade from purple to silver over time. If you're pale, the light color they wind up at can make them less visible. It's possible that there's some dermatological procedure to make stretch marks less obvious, but there's no legitimate OTC product available.

Most women have stretch marks, so there are a lot of moisturizers out there that claim to reduce stretch marks. They may be good moisturizers, but the stretch-mark claims are just a scam.

I've used to bio oil to help heal regular scars as well. I had to apply twice a day but it did help them fade IMO.

Me too! My stretch marks were never red, they just went straight to silver.

Bio-oil has helped with a small abdominal scar too, it didn't get rid of it completely but it did take the redness and hardness out of it.

I got them from gaining weight and using shea butter worked wonders. I don't hate my thighs like I used to! They were baaaaaad, red and angry looking.

Stretchmarks fade to silver on their own eventually. There are no legitimate potions, lotions, creams, butters, oils, linimints, balms, salves, or unguents that will do anything to make them disappear or even less noticable. However, there might be some newer laser treatments that will help make them less noticable (I'm kinda doubtful though). If the stretchmarks are confined to your lower belly (below bellybutton), you can probably get rid of most of them with a tummy tuck surgery.

Empressri,

Did you use the 100% unrefined shea butter?

Yep it's rather exspensive though..like $10000 if you want it done right. Also, I didn't have a tummy tuck yet because I thought I might want to have another baby some day.

I use Bio Oil, cocoa butter and Shea butter, I take a little of all and rub my thighs and butt, they have really helped to smooth my skin.

I got them from gaining weight also. Since they are permanent I learned to accept them and ignored them over the years. Mine were a dark color. After losing weight I have noticed they have become smaller and lightened up in color but I did not use anything to try and get rid of them.

I got them my from pregnancy, and they have silvered out. I haven't been able to make them look any better and have been trying for 9 years. Girls I got one that is so big I swear if you were a teeny tiny bug crawling over my belly, it would feel like you were crossing the Grand Canyon. I don't mind them on my belly as much because I don't wear anything that shows my belly...but I dispise the ones on my upper thighs....those *******s. I have to wear a swimsuit that has a skort with it because it's too embarrasing.

I really might try the mix alidan suggest though. Nothing could hurt at this point.

Mine showed up after gaining and then losing nearly 100 pounds. I had a few on my boobs and hips from puberty too. I actually haven't had any new ones show up from pregnancy - yet. I don't think there's really anything you can do about them. They're your battle scars.

I have severe strech marks from pregnancy but they are all silver now. They cover 85% of my stomach. No bikinis for me. I don't care about the strech marks but the huge flap of skin left over really bothers me. Someday when I'm done having kids I'll get my tummy tuck

i got them on my butt over the years as it's grown.
i got them on my breasts and thighs when i was pregnant.
at first the scars were purple then they faded and now appear lighter than my skin.
there is nothing i could do to change them.

Where can you buy Bio-oil?
I know exactly how you feel! I hit puberty early too, and I was diagnosed with Hypo-Thyroidism smack dab in the middle of it. I was stretch mark city for quite a while, and theyve finally faded--you can barely see them now, Thank God!

I have them on my hips from puberty, but I'm still young and they're still red. The other day when I was reaching up to get something down from the top of a cupboard, my little brother pointed to the gap between my shirt and my low-waisted pants and said, "did you scratch yourself??"

Man, was that self-loathing city for a while. I feel better about them now, though they haven't faded yet.
