Default Dominican Blowout

I forgot how much I love getting these.

For those that get them, do you have flyaway/static at the top? I get this all the time I assume it's normal.

I got my first one yesterday and I absolutely love it. I also have flyaway/static at the top.

Did they do a roller set and then blow dry?

How long it lasts depends on the person. I don't get greasy easily so I can make it last a week or a week and a few days if I don't get it wet. But I also do a doobie wrap at night to keep it straight.

I amnot sure if JC Pennies will know what it is, lol. I just go to a Dominican salon and ask for a roller set or blow out.

Yes, they did roller set and then blow dry. I was under the dryer for 2 hours, but it was set on cool. However, the blow dryer was a little hot. I was told the blow out would last for 2 weeks or until I co-wash. I live in a hot and humid climate and the blow out is holding up well.

Do a google search for Dominican salons in your area. Be sure to find a good one.

i LOOOVE dominican hair salons! i LIVE by them! before i started putting texturizes in my hair and I was still natural i was going to them when i wanted my hair straight and it looked like i had a fresh relaxer (until it started getting old or got wet). Their dryers are EXTREMELY hot BUT thats what gets your hair straight (its worth the pain) and they dont over charge . I still go to them even after my hair texturizers for my hair to be bone straight with body and bounce.

As for the "fly aways" , i take a tiny bit of olive oil and smooth it on the top of my hair to make them lay

What do you all do at night with the blow out? I doobie wrap it.

InayahL - I use olive oil as well! It also adds shine.

I doobie wrap as well. I use a little of Darcy's Botanicals Juicy Peach Kernel Nectar on my fly aways. Jojoba and Olive Oil are probably less expensive, but I love the light peachy fragrance of Darcy's oil.

My hair also looks like I had a fresh relaxer and I'm almost 7 months post.

I can't do a doobie on myself. I feel so retarded. I have my mom do it for me.

Anyone can point me to a good video?

I am getting one tomorrow or Thursday I think. My husband has NEVER seen me with straight hair, so this is his anniversary treat an I can check my length. Anyone have a suggestion on a place in Chicago. I think I will just go to Santo Domingo Salon, but thought I would see if anyone has any other suggestions.

How is a doobie wrap different than just wrapping your hair and then throwing on a satin scarf? I only hear the term doobie wrap in NY, so I've been confused for years...and before I got a brazilian keratin treatment, I was never happy with my dominican blow outs....I had 4a curls, and in one salon they have like 3 ladies working on my hair! The main one was like, "you need a relaxer mami!" lol! The one salon before that got my hair straight, but man was it dry and greasy looking! I guess not every dominican salon is created equal
