Ideas on how to loosen 3b curls?

Hello all! I'm pretty new to naturallycurly, and I am so glad to have found this site. I have been struggeling all of my life to manage my curls. My hair shrinks up a good 4-5 inches. I have just started the CG method. I have no idea if I am doing that right. I have been researching softeners and texturizers. I love my curls, but I would just like to loosen them up a bit. I have left them in rollers until they are dry, and when I take them out it is a big frizzy mess. I have braided it pig tails with deva curl arcangel gel, and let it dry overnight with a satin cap, and when I take out the braids it is still a frizzy mess. I am at my wits end trying to loosen up these curls. I'm also considering getting a perm with thicker rods?? But then I don't want to damage and dry it out!! grrrr. Any suggestions? Thank you all in advance!!!
I was doing a search and I just found this old thread. It's worth a shot.

Gel can be drying on hair. I use WEN Sweet Almond Mint to cleanse, and I use Body Shop Coconut Body Butter (coconut, not cocoa butter) and the Extenzz as a leave in. I've posted my love of Extenzz which came out I think late last year. If you google the Curly Hair Solution website (they're URL is FrizzOff) you can see the videos on their website of how to use the product.

I have tried Ojon which worked great at first but then my hair got damaged from it after a while.

The old school trick is also to dry your hair with a bonnet hair dryer, you can get one from Bed Bath and Beyond. Put the hood on and let it dry on medium for 20 minutes or so.

Oh and to fight the frizz dry your hair with a t-shirt or one of the smooth curly hair towels advertised at the curlmart; regular terry cloth towels cause frizz and static. Smooth materials won't frizz the hair and it will dry smoother and less frizzy. There are tons of great tips on this website, this website has been a hair saviour for me!
