I'd have it cut short without a second thought - probably a really short inverted bob. I used to envy my friends at school who would cut their hair off and look amazing.
What about having it relaxed and working some magic with straightening? As long as you look after it (protection, deep conditioning etc and not straightening TOO often - it's ok.) I'm chopping mine off soon and will be using a bit of heat to get the style I want.... And you can get less harsh relaxers now, it's not like it used to be. Curlies have options! More so than straight haired ladies really... more difficult to get unatural curls (that stay!)
I totally wish my root of the hair was straight, I was born with naturally straight hair which turned wavy over time. If I had straight hair, I'd be happy, no need to worry about frizz or doing anything after coming out of the shower! And I'm one of those girls who always dreams/envisions herself dancing under the rain, then my nightmare of having to towel dry, comb, etc. comes alive. Although I do love my waves (when they behave) but like you I wish the root of my hair was naturally straight, then I wouldn't have to tie with a banana clip for some time before it dries.
Off topic: I love these emoticons (I'm sure you can tell) and I saw a dancing under the rain emoticon on someone's signature once although I can't find it. Can someone please tell me how to do it? Thanks.
I'd probably play with it for weeks because I'm not used to it, and get a shorter, choppy layered fringy cut.
I have a thing for short emo-ish hair! Im sorry XD Not that I could ever pull it off.

Just being totally honest, and meaning no harm to straight-haired people: I'd be devastated. I'm in love with curly hair. I'd do everything I could to get some curl into it, or I'd shave it off.
I've fallen deeply, deeply in love with curls and can't imagine how I ever could have wanted straight hair. Do any of you feel the way I do?
I'm one of those people, Korkscrew. I went the buzzcut way for a few years from about 22-25 before growing it out but I'd cut it about every four weeks. Then at 33 I started wearing longer and wavy/curly having my stylist cut it about every 5-6 weeks. Lately, I'm taking it a step further and going about every three months to let the curls really develop. Couldn't imagine straight or buzzcut now. Like you, I have fallen in love with my curls but mine of course couldn't hold a torch to your incredibly lovely curls.
If it was naturally straight, I'd learn to live with it. I've always thought I look better with long hair, so I'd probably just keep it in long layers and add some sort of volumizing product to it so it wouldn't be so flat.

Well, you seem pretty dedicated! I only get mine cut every 6 mth.s to a year. It's good to know there are guys out there dedicated to their curly hair. I love curly hair on guys

Aww shucks ... That's really nice of you to say. I think "lovely curls" are all curls that are lovingly taken care of
