Why is my natural hair a different color...?

When I was relaxed, my hair was brownish-red. Now that I'm natural, in its natural state, it's that color, but when I straighten it, it's black. Does anyone know why>

Omg! I have that problem to! My theory is that the flat iron burns my hair into a different color. I thought it was just me..

Its kinda the same for me except I dyed my hair lighter and it looks lighter when its natural but when I flat iron its much darker but it shows more in the sun
