4b, and thinking about texturizing my hair. I have lots of questions for you.
EDIT: I had paragraphs and everything, but they weren't showing up. I hope this time, it doesn't show up as a block of text. =\
I've been natural for around 3 years now, so I'm certainly no newbie. I don't have too many problems with moisture, and I do love my hair, but my heartache lies within the DETANGLING and washing process. It takes so. Damn. Long.
I also have a huge, huge problem with SSKs and tangling, which wreaks havoc on my ends (even with a trim). It like, no matter what products I use or how much I stretch my hair, I always have these issues. I swear, the second after I completely detangle my hair with all the conditioner, it tangles right back up as if I didn't comb at all (even if I braid the section back up). I don't even dream about having a wash n go- my hair is usually twisted up or in some stretched style.
I basically want to be able to deep condition and style my hair a lot easier. Sometimes, I skip wash day just because I don't want to spend 2+ hours on each stage from wash to condition. It's simply too much.
With that said, I'm kind of flirting with the idea of getting a texturizer. Not sure if I'm going to do it yet, but I'm just in that research process. I have the following question for those of you who have/had texturized and texlaxed hair.
1. How much did this cut down on your detangling time? Do you find that your hair is harder to moisturize?
2. When the new growth comes in, does detangling become a living hell again? How long do you wait between touch ups?
3. Do you have any regrets? What are the pros and cons?
4. Would you say henna helps to elongate your hair for a certain amount of time?
Thank you so much for reading this.
