Oh, I did it..

I got the flat iron out and straitened my hair. I haven't done it in almost nine months and I used to do it every two or three days! The reason why is because I'm actually going out tonight and I wanted to be able to rely on my hair looking halfway decent ecspecially since the dewpoints are supposed to be in the seventies tonight. I probably will do some kind of half up do or regular up do in case the humidity gets to it. So, I enjoyed being able to know that when I was done fixing it that it would look decent and it is a nice change up to have smooth sleek hair but I do feel like my curls are a part of who I am... Anyone else feel the way I do?

D you think your hair only looks decent when straight?

I'm sorry, off topic, but your siggy is AWESOME. Esp the "dear hair" part.

Free and curly should be sent to prison!

I prefer the manageability of just finger combing my straightened hair with some oil and the length I have when straight looks good too, so I also am a fan of straightening the hair sometimes. I'm just curious if the OP has issues with getting the natural curls to look as good as the straight hair, since they said it was "decent." No need for the police lol...

Actually I do have trouble getting my curls to look good but I haven't figured out a routine that gives me consistent good hair days when it comes to my curls. But when I do get those good hair days I LOVE them all I was saying is when I don't want to take chances with having a bad hair day I will straiten it. But if I ever nail down a 'routine' that works I'll probably will not straiten it much if any. I actually broke a 9 month period of only wearing my hair curly...

I hear you completely. I went out on a HUGE limb for my wedding day a few months back and wore it natural as opposed to my safe straightening. It was a big deal to my mom because I had just started going CG and wearing my natural curl pattern so she was nervous for both of us! I had planned for weeks and I almost bailed on the day before. I was looking at styles that required straight hair!

But with a little encouragement from my mom and husband, I went with it and was happy. It was a lucky day that I got consistent curls and waves all over! I still have random wonky days like today. It's all tied up in a bun now due to weirdness. :)

I like the title of this thread.

It sounds like you're answering a threat.

I understand completely. I am learning not to feel guilty if I straighten my hair. I love my curls but some days I feel like a change, maybe some straight-wavy action instead of crazy curls! I'm going out of town this weekend and it's super hot so i plan to blow my hair out so I won't have to monkey with it. I lose curls in dry heat anyway! I figure as long as I take care of my hair, it should be ok. My hair, my rules lol
