I want looser curls

Hi!

After almost 21 years of my tight curls, I have finally decided that I want to try to loosen my curls significantly. However, I have never tried any chemical treatments before, and I hardly straighten my hair because of the time it takes.

Here are a picture of what my curls look like:

However, that is not how long it is. I cut my hair recently to my shoulders, and it is a tad thinner, but the curl sometimes gets a little tighter than usual.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to what I can do to achieve looser curls or have something that they've done? I've heard about Keratin treatments and how they can help, but I've also heard they are really expensive for upkeep

Thank you

I've gotten a reverse perm before. It kinda sorta worked. They were looser for a bit then it went back to it's insane self. It basically just caused my hair to look unhealthy. Tried Keratin straightening once. Super expensive. Seemed to make my hair healthier but NOT straighter at all. I am desperate to loosen my curls. They are so tight and icky. If you figure out a solution PLEASE let me know. Here is a pic of my mop. lol

I can get looser curls. After putting in my product (I use suave mousse and bioterra gel). Then I twist sections of my hair into larger ringlets. I then use my hair dryer without a diffuser and on low speed and blow down on my hair. Sometimes I have to hold up a ringlet and put the drier on it to get some of the moisture out. Once my hair is dry I'll use curl creme if I have any frizzy spots and to pull apart the larger ringlets.

KCCC is reputed to help elongate and loosen curls. I don't know how much it will do that, but it has the reputation.

If you do them yourself keratin treatments are not that much more expensive compared to a relaxer IMO.

I would recommend a non permanent smoothing products like design essentials strengthening therapy, naked assuage thermal smoothing complex, arosci intensive restructuring or huetiful nano smoothing treatment. these are mild and definitely do not cause a permanent change so you can get the loosened look and have the option of your hair reverting back.

a step up from that would be a keratin treatment which are more plentiful and cheaper but tent to be a crap shoot in terms of over or under effectiveness of the specific formula.

or you can go the permanent rout which is the relaxer/ Japanese straightening. these last longer than the others but you will have to upkeep with the new growth after a while.

In the end it depends on the look you want to achieve and the time and money you are willing to spend on your hair.

So you want wavy hair? Your hair seems like it's 3a to me.

I started a thread on this called change my 3c to 3a
But you can use
1)curlformers
http://cdn102.iofferphoto.com/img3/i...rmers-ce8a.jpg
they come in different sizes. Make sure you get the ones with the largest diameter. They are called EXTRA WIDE curlformers They are like sleeves. You pull your hair thru w/ like a hook then they snap into a spiral pattern when u turn it loose. Use them when the hair is wet and let it dry in them.

OR

put coconut oil something soothing on the hair and twist it up into 2 bantu knots... Let them dry overnight then finger comb them down for BIG beach waves.

or

get a wave nouveau permanent wave using huge rods like 11/8" wide green rods or larger like up to 1 1/2" brown rods
