How I straighten my hair

Tonight for the first time in a while I decided I wanted to straighten my hair. For a good 5-6 years I would get my hair chemically straightened twice a year and then I cut back to once a year. The type of straightening treatment that I got required no heat at all to set the product, it was sulfur based. The only reason why I got the straightening treatment done was to cut down the frizz and to make my hair more manageable, which it is now more manageable. It has been a good 5-7 years since I have gotten a straightening treatment, and every once in a great while, I like to straighten my hair myself.

Tonight, I straightened my hair for the first time in a good year and a half. I only straightened it to see how long it really is. I let my hair are dry to 75-80 percent, this both decreases drying time and heat damage. These are the steps that I use:

1.) I section my hair off by layers
2.) I apply blow dry lotion (I used Aveda Hang Straight) to the first section that I will be blow drying
3.) After the first section is blow dried I spray my hair with heat protecting spray (Sebastian Trilliant) and I use more on the ends than the rest of my hair
4.) I use a flat iron (Paul Mitchell Pro Tools Express Ion Style 1 inch Flat Iron) at no more than 325 degrees
5.) And then I repeat the process with each section of layers

If anyone is wondering, I have three layers of hair. The length, the middle layer and the top layer.

Shorty, how did it turn out? I'm going to look into the Aveda product you mention. Is that the one you like most?
2/c and some 3A.
Protein sensitive but can use occasionally
Highly porous. Color over grey.
Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Stylers: Mix Curls in a Bottle into everything for shine. Terrible pj
Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift

It has a really nice clean scent to it, and it conditions my hair too. A little bit of the Aveda Hang Straight blow dry lotion goes a really long way.
