Please suggest a paste or wax that you like.

I've had several suggestions that I should use a paste or wax to get the "piecey" or undone, messy look that I am after. In the thread about how to look less "done" I described what I used that worked, but it involved 2 products (B&B brilliantine and Elnett hair spray). I think a paste or wax would be better and less expensive in the long run.

Highly porous. Color over grey.
I love all the Curl Junkie products. Still experimenting with gels and curl creams. Still hoping for 2nd day hair....

These aren't necessarily cheaper options, but both worked well for me.

Great suggestions, Perri! I've been reading up on this and it seems a lot of men use some sort of paste or wax. I'll probably try the Bed Head - that's readily available and not too $$. My pj is saying feed me, feed me!

Have you seen my Jon Snow Cocktail vid? You should be able to find cheaper versions of those.

Thanks Chupie! I had watched that a while back but at that time, I wasn't looking for this kind of styler, so I'm glad you alerted me to it again. You are a resource!

It's a super second or third day combo especially.

The two I've tried are very different price level.

1. Garnier Pixie Play black fig (Walmart$4) very nice scent , flexible hold I was looking for. Garnier coupons are easy to find. Liked this for sleeking my baby hair down , and for fuzzy ends , or second day hair.

2. Healthy Sexy Soy Paste ( ulta$20 or so) . Ok clean smell. felt good in my hands... Once I applied to my ends of hair ( as a finisher ) my hair looked very tangly and sticky. Big disappointment . a lot of people like this one , just not me.

Hope this helps.

Ps- Ive also Heard that Garnier Pure clean paste is good, but personally have not tried.

I love, love, love, (at Sally's Beauty Supply for $7.99) GVP's texture taffy. It has worked wonders for me this winter. (Yay! I finally have a HG!) I rarely use gel anymore because of this product. It works best for me (fine texture, high porosity) when my hair is wet. After my leave-in, I apply a small blob (I rub it well in my hands first) throughout my hair and then scrunch. It's strange stuff, as when it's drying, it seems to have a cast, like gel. However, once my hair is 100% dry, it's soft with no crunch. I just shake at the roots and go. One of my biggest problems with frizz, comes from my impatience to not touch the hair while it's wet. This product has helped me with that issue. It's got just enough hold and adds both volume and definition to my loopy, spirally, silver curls.

Country Girl and BeinDeb, thanks so much for chiming in! Actually, since I got a better haircut, I haven't felt the need to try a paste or wax but if i change my mind, your posts give me great alternatives!

I had bought FX molding wax but I haven't tried it. I wonder what it would be like if I used it in wet hair???

One day when I'm feeling adventurous, I'll try that.

I appreciate your responses
