Default How do you keep your hair straight all day?

I love to straighten my hair from time to time, and have often thought about going straight permanently. However, if I could get it to act right when I try to use a straightening iron on it, it probably wouldn't be a big deal.
My biggest problems when using a flat iron is that my hair is so flat and lifeless....that and if my hair comes close to any kind of humidity of moisture it goes crazy! It starts getting these funny little bends from where it's trying to curl back up. With all the other curly girls here, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had this problem. Any advice?

Well lets see I don't touch a flat iron anymore but when I did use to blow dry my hair upside down or with a round brush for body. and use After Party. It has tons of cones but it works and I didn't have to touch my hair for almost a week at a time.

When I used to straighten I used Aveda's Hang Straight leave-in. I blow dried with a round brush and then flattened with a flat iron. Result: Shiny, smooth hair with lots of movement.

I agree with the other posts, I use the Nexxus, Memory Sleek and it helps with the straightening and maintaining, I also use the John Frieda straight shamp/conditioner. But I've recently invested in the Sabino Moisture block, which if you check around is supposed to be excellent for fighting frizz...

Default Any good silicone serum

I can keep my hair straight and smooth for a week using only a good silicone serum (just a few drops) and five minutes on the flat-iron. It stays nice all day...even in humidity.

Brand-wise, I use whatever is on sale as long as it doesn't contain SD alcohol. Right now I'm using ORS Olive Oil polishing serum and I love it but it might be a little heavy for fine or thin hair.

I haven't yet faced our 90-degree 90-percent-humidity summers doing this yet, but will report back when and if summer ever gets here

I swear by Sabino Moisture Block. The longer I use it the more I realize how amazing it is. I can straighten my hair on a day when it's pouring rain, go outside with just an umbrella and I stay straight with no frizz. I used to just simply not be able to straighten my hair on rainy days....I'd plan my hair styles based on the weather report. I got my haircut and styled the other day and the stylist used her own products. It was stick straight when I left the salon, but it was a misty day and I was shocked when I looked in the mirror later on that night and saw how frizzy my hair was. It took me a minute to realize why...I had no Moisture Block in. I realized I'm so used to using it, I'm not used to seeing my hair frizzy ever! It seems pricey, but that one little bottle lasts for FOREVER. I'm barely half way through mine and I've been using it every 4 days for almost 6 months.

Actually, you can get two free samples from their website (google Sabino and look on their website). I did this just to try it out- since buying it (get it online through Sabino.com or Amazon also carries it) is like $25 or so. The samples have lasted me forever- and it's a great way to try it out. Then they will send you a coupon to buy the product if you liked it by email.

The other day, I used heat styling tools and my hair didn't get frizzy at all. I ended up using Tresemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Protective Spray, Giovanni Frizz be gone, and a tiny bit of coconut oil. The Tresemme and Giovanni Frizz be gone both have slightly soluble silicones. The Giovanni frizz also has one non-solube silicone. I liked the way my hair turned out though when I used it.

Default this will b funny...

well as a habitual straightener, i first blow out my hair just enough to get the water out so i dont have to go over my hair too much with the iron. i just use sedal leave in and i use tres semme (i'm not cg yet n i think this has cones...) and i go over smaller sections at a time. if i take big section, my hair will just be a poof cause i need to try and smoothen the roots. so once im straight, i either run outside if its really cold and kinda shake my head in the cold. dont know if this is a proven fact but hair does well in the cold! at least mine does... n if its warm outside, i stick my hair in an air conditioned room, just long enough for the cold to tighten my hair up... dnt kno if that makes sense... anyways here's the trick: i wrap my hair! i wrap my hair with bobby pins, put a hair net on, remove pins, then wrap something else on top of it so it doesnt come undone. this is what really keeps the hair all flowy like and healthy looking. if i just sleep on my hair, my hair kinda gets clumps in sections and just looks stringy. if i wrap my hair every night before bed, my hair can stay straight and look GOOD for a whole week n it wont even look greasy! The moment i dotn wrap my hair, it looks greasy and motionless to wind!! LOL.
good luck!

I straighten my hair once a week with a flat iron. I do my usual hair routine with my own mix of oils and conditoner warmed. I then use this in my hair when it is dry. I let it sit for about an hour then I rinse out in the shower. This is where I then use my deep contioner and more conditioner. Thsi always generates soft hair for me. I dry the ends of my hair with a towel, but I do not rub my hair between, I scrunch my hair so I do not cause damage. I then let my hair dry naturally. I apply Jojoba Oil to my hair when damp. Once dry, I take my hair in sections (.5"-1" ) and straighen each section from the roots to the tip. Be fore I do, I apply a shine serum that helps protect from the heat and make my hair shine. This lasts me a week.

When I straightened my hair for Thanksgiving I used the serum that came with my maxiglide, that didn't work too well. I would wrap my hair when I came home, work out and in the morning the back would be curly. I found myself re-straightening the back, which was a pain. But I'm going to straighten my hair for my bday, so maybe I'll get the Sabino, that I hear such good reviews about.

Sabino is cool. it really does block the humidity! My only problem was that I used too much the first time and ended up with super flat hair with no movement. I'll see how it turns out next time.

Default About Sabino

I just looked at the Sabino website and they don't mention the ingredients. What's in it? does anyone know? Is it like that LIVING PROOF stuff? That didn't work for me at all and it took weeks before I could get my hair back to normal.

I copied and pasted this off of an ebay listing for the Sabino Moisture Block. I put the ingredients in bold. I have never used it but was also wondering about the ingredients.

Moisture Block
Waterproof Your Hair!

This is the original formula for all hair types. Moisture content is the single most important factor affecting the way your hair looks, feels, and performs! If you have too little moisture or too much moisture in your hair, it can never look its best. Moisture Block seals essential moisture in while it blocks excess moisture out. If your hair contains too little moisture it will be dry and flat. If it contains too much moisture it will frizz. Moisture Block contains a blend of patent-pending cosmetic silicones that create a waterproof barrier on your hair that will not come out until the next shampoo. Application is the key to good results with Moisture Block. Start with a dime size and add more as needed.

Ingredients: Dimethicone and Cyclomethicone (Patent Pending)
