Default update..

I used the Keratin product - but didn't follow directions to the Tee (see my post earlier). However, I have been using the leave in conditioner since I first used the treatment. At first I used it every day and it made my hair softer and less frizzy, but it didn't have any shape... I think it was too soft. So I cut back and use it 2x per week. Ultimately I don't think this product is the holy grail if you want to wear your hair curly or more natural. It seems to work really well when you flat iron (I can't say for sure but that's what it seems from other posts) and when you wear it naturally I'd say it cuts down frizz by 10-15% and softens hair but not much more. Again - my disclaimer is that I didn't do the flat iron party of the treatment.

Default LK

to MG,
i use the T3 ionic wet/dry flat iron. i saw it demonstrated at a nordstrom store ( by a pretty hot male stylist, lol)and bought it. i am really happy with it.

like others of you posting on this product, i have never chemically str8tened or relaxed my hair, so when i saw the LK ad in InStyle and googled it, i found this blog, which i thnk is great! i have been reading about other products here but for right now, this is my fave! so i hope you gals find this info helpful!

one other product i SWEAR by is by Sorbie. Its called "curle form", and it is a really light spray in that defines curls without making them crunchy. it is DISCONTINUED (just my luck), so i tracked down 3 cases of the largest size and bought them from an online store. I spent $1000 on the stuff to make sure i dont run out!! if you find any out there, grab it! it is how i spritz up in between washes to regain the bounce. it is the BEST!

Well I did have a reaction to the treatment, but after the 48 hrs, and neutralizing I've noticed the irritation to go away (hmm?) So I don't know if I will try the actual treatment again, but I know when I followed the directions blow dry then flat iron, I used my FHI, and my hair was so smooth and flat, with no frizz, after neutralizing I had the same results, my hair is soft and it doesn't take much to straighten. I haven't tried to wear my hair curly since I completed the treatment, but I do know my curls smooth before I begin straightening.

This is my first post - but I have visited this site many times in the past. I tried the LK last Friday - followed everything exactly - and my hair looked great without frizz directly after the treatment. After 48 hours and a wash and letting it dry naturally (which is what I usually do) my hair felt softer, slightly less curl and it just felt different - but I still had some frizz. I have 3 daughters and not one of them thought it looked any differently (and they are very honest and notice these things). So, I just blowed dried my hair (which I rarely do - my stylist can and it turns out great) ... and what a mess - I had to flat iron to make it smooth and not a frizz mess. That did work but the flat ironed worked on my hair before using the product. I was hoping this product would allow me to blow dry without having to use flat iron. Maybe I just need more applications ? I am going to see my stylist next week and I am not going to tell her that I used the product and see if she notices any difference in my hair. Oh, I also smelled the fake tan smell.

Yolunga,

same results as you! I was really hoping that it would have improved my natural hair texture. I have yet to blow dry it after the initial treatment but once I do I will update with my results. I am wondering also if you need multiple applications for it to work. Which I think stinks!

OK girls...I had to do it after I came across this post. Went to ULTA and got my Kit.
Sadly, after I follow the instructions to the T my hair looks like straw, feels soft, but it looks like straw. It puffed up as soon as i walked outside. It is soft to the touch, very soft, but opaque.
I see many of you had instant results, but are others seeing better results after the 48 hours Neutralization step?
I have seen better results using my temporary straightening balm and my flat iron.
I am so so sad...anyone out there can help? I wrote Customer Service at LiquidKeratin.com. I will keep uu updated.

Does anyone have before and after pics? Before I drive all the way out to my local Ulta, I kinda want to see how the results look.

Also, can I still do DT's with the product in?

Default VERY disappointed

I got this product a few days ago and tried it, and I have to say I am very disappointed. First of all, my hair, which is an ash blonde, turned brassy yellow when I started to blow dry after using the treatment. The shampoo stung my scalp. I ended up washing the whole thing out right away after blow drying the treatment--not only did it turn the color, but the results I got were not even close to what I would get from a salon blow dry. I really do think the company is out there having its people post online to build buzz. I am disgusted with them.

ETA: I have never posted on this site before and only found it because I googled "liquid keratin" and "darker" to see if anyone had the same color-darkening reaction I did. I hope you won't let the fact that I'm new keep you from thinking twice--or three--or a hundred times about using this product.

Ok...My hair got a tone lighter, not darker...but I had deposit color 2 weeks ago, so maybe the treatment took that color out.
Also I just put a silk cap on to be around my house, the hair is starting to look better...but again, nothing that impressive, I can achieve this with my regular hair routine.
Still no reply from Customer Service. I hope that the treatment works its wonders after the 48hrs waiting period..lol

I POSTED PICS ON MY JOURNAL

I've been a lurker on this site for years, and have been following this thread as I too was intrigued by the ad in Instyle. I am always leary of Internet reviews, both good and bad, as you never really know the motivation behind either. Also, with so many different hair types and variables I figured I was bound to see mixed reviews, so I decided to take the plunge and try for myself. I am happy to report that my results were really good. I have washed my hair now 2 times since applying the treatment and I have no frizz in my hair when air dryed and blow drying straight took 1/2 the time it normally does. Also my hair doesn't "grow" in the humidity anymore. For an at-home, DIY treatment, I think its great and inexpensive (I'm sure I have enough treatment left to do it 1 or 2 more times).

Default LK

hi there for those who havent seen a significant improvement....
i actually used waaaaay too much the first treatment, so myhair was really limp and i just wanted to wash it out cuz it was almost wet with so much treatment. i stuck it out though and once the 48 hrs was up i washed, conditioned, used the serum and flat ironed. i loved it then, and i love it now even when i just use the serum, twist it and let it air dry. maybe because i used so much i got great results? seriously my hair was almost slimy with the treatment because i didnt want to miss any strands! LOL now i have only about a third of the bottle left, so i am thinking 2 treatments per bottle is a better plan for the future....i will continue to update and let you know when it starts to wear out. i think i am going to use the last bit of treatment to touch up once i see a sign of it washing out..i think i have washed about 6 times so far. i definitely need to be able to buy the treatment separately but i dont think they have that yet

I was wondering if i could use the Liquid keratin and after the flatironing process, set the hair in big hot rollers?
My hair is 2c wavy, below shoulder length, long layers.
I like some big curls at the ends.

Default UPDATE

Ok, I slept with a silk cap, and this morning I noticed a BIG difference on my hair. It was softer, and shiny.
I also wanted to let you know that I emailed Customer Service (they are so great!) and they suggested maybe I need to apply more heat. I will try that. I emailed them a few more questions (some I saw posted here), and as soon as I get the answers I will post them here.
I will have a little more "faith" on this treatment, wont give up yet.
I will post more pics on my Journal to keep track of my hair progress with this treatment.

Good Luck Ladies!

OK..I Posted Some Pics With The Final Results On MY Journal!

Thanks Woody for your reply. I can't imagine using a 450degrees of heat on my hair.

All of the flat irons that I've on my recent flatiron shopping trips have been in the 300 degree range.

Thoughts?

Smile Just did it!!!!

Alright, just got done doing the LK.....my hair is really soft. My ONLY complaint is I hate my hair w/out product......I have very fine hair so I usually need leave-in and gel before I blow-dry. I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out when I wash and re-do on Saturday. I'll let you know!! Oh and the smell wasn't bad at all

hi MGirl
i bought my t3 in the usa, so the temp goes up to 410degrees Farenheit. could yours be in celsius? i have an iron i bought in canada that only goes to 200, which i assume is celsius.... not sure if that helps you, but i will say that i make sure to coat ever strand of hair with heat safe product so that the iron is sealing the product into my hair rather than burning my hair...hope that makes sense?

This was actually my major disappointment, I was an ash blonde (redken color) and my hair color is darker, so that's the part I do not like, because now I need to wait for my next color touchup to go back ot what I know...

Default UPDATE & CSR Answers

Ok..and hour later after I re-run my flat iron, and was raving about the great result, my hair puffed up. i thing the fact that I used my Flat Iron to the max made the hair sooooo straight.
Hair was still soft to the touch, but it looked like very dry relaxed hair. This morning I did step 3 "Neutralize".
Hair is soft, did not have to put gel any other product for my curls, the curls formed well, exept some strands that looked like if I over relaxed them (maybe due to the heat of the flat iron?)

I emailed some of your questions to customer service after they told me I was the FIRST negative case they ever had, and I thought this could help and interest you all:

_____________
Hi,

Please find the answers to your questions below:

Can I skip the Blow dryer, let it air dry and THEN Flat Iron it using my MaxiGlide Flat Iron?

I would not recommend skipping the blow dryer stage. It is important for the hair to be completely dry. The heat of the blow dryer starts activating the Liquid Keratin and the brushing helps to distribute the product and straighten the hair. I would recommend using a non-steam based iron. Since the maxiglide use steam, it could interfere with the results of the treatment.

Can we use a light hair serum if we don't have your Liquid Keratin Serum at the moment?

The Liquid Keratin Sealing Shine has been tested to help prolong the effects of the Treatment. There are so many different Serums with various ingredients that it is very difficult to say what will help and what will diminish the results of the treatment.

Color Treated Hair?

Liquid Keratin is safe to use on color treated hair. However, as with all hair treatments, we recommend performing a strand test in a discreet location prior to application, particularly if you have bleached or chemically colored/altered hair. For best results, apply the Liquid Keratin treatment 1 - 2 weeks prior to your color treatment.

Can I spray it on dry hair after the full treatment and flat iron over it again and/or roller set?

Yes,Liquid Keratin can be used as often as you like during regular styling and in between full treatments. Liquid Keratin has cumulative benefits. We do recommend, however, performing a full treatment every 4 - 6 weeks or when you feel your hair can use it.

I hope this helps.

All the best,

David

I sent another email thi smorning asking them if I should do the treatment one more time, they said that instead of doing the entire Step 3, only use the shampoo and apply the Liquid Keratin agai. To late cause teh first thing I did this morning was follow Step 3 to the T, in hopes of a better hair day. I will have to start all over again.

Girls, every head is diffrent, what might not work for ME migh tworks wonder for YOU. So I don't want to discourage anyone from using this product. IT is a great product, because at least I notice the softness of my hair, that means something is working, right?
I read so many wonderful reviews, i can't give up on this one.

I too have medium to light shade of blonde and now after using LK my hairs looks a little darker and orangy. My hair feels very different - and not in a good way ... it feels like fake hair to me, and strawlike. I am undecided - should I use more and see if it works better and just let is wear off and let my hair go back to normal.

I've been following this thread with interest. Thanks to all who have been brave enough to try this new product and share your experiences. And thanks to AphroDiva for sharing the info you've recieved from the company itself. It's interesting that you've recieved feedback from them so quickly, don't you think? I wonder if that means they are a big company that is doing well, or a little start up, eager to please the potential customer?
