Liquid Keratin

AphroDiva, I like your new haircolor. Looks really good, tho I like the lighter color also. And your hair looks great - nice and shiny. Seems the vinegar, aloe & oil rinse worked. Sounds like a good concoction I may have to try. Please keep us posted as you can. ~HHHG~

My hair journey is getting so complicated
hi all -

Posting this re: Liquid Keratin 30-day etc... ripoff. I have 3B hair, bought it straight from mfr and 1) it smells awful. the keratin has a nauseating odor when it's in your hair for two whole days. more importantly, and 2) is that it didn't work. My hair was marginally less frizzy/curly. Email me if you'd like me to see my before/after pictures -- my normal hair and then the day after wash number 1. I have 3A/B hair. This product didn't damage my hair, but is a TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. Go spend the $70 ($85 + shipping) toward getting the real thing done. Plus their customer service sucks.

i would really like to try LK but will it work on 3b hair??
Yeap, this confirms my theory...It doesn't work with most 3b hair, or light color heads. That is why their before and after pics on their sites are women with naturally soft wavy hair. Who knows, it might work after the 5th or 7th box of the treatment for very damaged hair. But also straightening can be achieved by blow drying or flat iron...I give up on this product. It sucks for me!

In the other hands their Shine Serum is good, but over priced. The Serum is what took that straw like look and feel of my hair when I finally achieve great results. Without that serum you will noticed the damage done by the extreme heat this treatment required.

Stupid me, thinking it works every time I tried this treatment, even noticing the awful damage it did to my hair, how it ruined my hair color... and here I go, fall again into the marketing trap, "The AWESOME reviews" on other sites. Then realized they are all COPY & PASTE allover the net...but again, what hair can't be amazingly straighten with a MaxiGlide and a super good hair balm/serum?

I am done with the LK Treatment. Now back to re-building my hair and control my awful hair obsession that got me in to this mess in the first place. I think I need to be medicated..LOL

well, i waited until i have been using this for a couple of weeks before i posted a review.i used it first 2 weeks ago(mabie 3) and followed directions to a tee. i did notice softer hair and it dried noticably less frizzy. it was easier to flat iron than normal.
since then, i spray a bit on my hair after every washing, (their shampoo stuff) and use a little of the cond. spray.... i use my own shine spray.
i have gotton many compliments on my hair, the shine, softness... i work in a pricey salon and the stylists who color, cut my hair cannot believe the difference in the condition of my hair.
it does seem to get softer with continued use, and less frizzy. now, to be fair, i have 3a hair, but very fuzzy 3a hair. i have been fighting my curls for over a year. nothing i do helps, i have lost a lot of curl do to perimenapause..yippie. so this does seem to be a solution for me. i cannot wear my hair curly, it looks like crap. this has made life so much easier.
i can see that it wouldnt be of much use for curlier hair.mabie a good leave in. but if you have frizzy hair that needs to be softened i recommend it. sam
Can anyone tell me how much the treatment itself costs, without all the other products? I was not clear on whether or not you can buy the whole set or just the treatment alone. I already have a lot of gentle shampoos without sulfates that I think would work fine for washing.
3A curls, fine texture, thin (it's always been that way). A few inches past shoulder length and would like it to grow very long.

Latest routine:
Sulfate-free shampoo: Jessicurl Gentle Lather Shampoo, Elucence, Bedhead Superstar
Conditioner: Jessicurl Too Shea conditioner, DermOrganic Masque, Redken All Soft
Style: DermOrganic Argan Oil Treatment/Serum, Kinky Curly Knot Today leave-in, Kerastase Nectar Thermique, Oyin Hair Dew
I am new, and have read the other posts about noobies BUT I found this site through this forum for the product. I had to have it after I saw it in INstyle mag. I looked everywhere and could not find it (a couple of weeks ago).. then I called the company and they said that it had not been sold to Ulta yet due to contract. Which is how I know some of the posters here are reps for the company cuz they said they had went to Ulta and bought it, yet Ulta did not have it yet :P anyways, I finally had got it and let me tell you I went back to replenish my conditioner (which is a TOTAL ripoff in price and quantity) and there was none left on the shelves, I guess everyone heard about it. I thought the Fekkai products I was using were expensive but you get 10 oz more for the same price as the LK conditioner which I use alot of due to my hair thickness and length. Also, whats with the treatment and leave in conditioner being a spray? It makes such a mess and you waste half the bottle! So, in conclusion this is NO miracle cure and I will use the last of the bottle but I am NOT impressed at all... it did nothing for me, drying time still took an hour and a half.
BTW Starcrosser, they do not sell the treatment by itself.... but you can ask Woody when her company will be putting it out for future purchase
they do sell it at ulta here in ohio. i can assure you that i bought it there 4 (ish )weeks ago, though it was brand new there.the sales person didnt quite know what i was talking about at first. it was one of those end displays for the newer products. and no, it is not a miracle, but it has made my hair easier to manage.
Yes, ULTA is selling it LilysMom, I purchased mine from there. At least here in Florida....also ULTA online.

Sadly, their over the phone customer service have no clue about the product. I think they subcontract a customer service provider. Someone here mentioned something about a rep not even knowing about how to apply that product.

About your other statements, yes, there are Company's eyes posting here. I agree on that.

BTW I too live in Florida (horrible for frizz).
So I've been looking for some good reviews on this product after getting an ulta mail ad about LiquidKeratin. Usually, before I buy a product, I read a few reviews, if they sound good, i stop and head for the purchase.

I am SO GLAD I READ EVERY PAGE OF THIS FORUM....had I not, I would have been fooled by earlier posters with amazing, highly recommended and oh yea...FAKE results

I was so disappointed to know that marketers actually do things like that. Why put out a product that doesn't work! It's horrible trying to post on here to sell it.

Anyway, I guess my real question is what are your thoughts on some good ways to reduce the frizz. I could care less about having curly hair, i don't mind it. It's the frizz that makes the curls unrecognizable. I really need a good fix, and I thought this was it. I am so disappointed!
Yes!! Florida is awful for the hair..what a battle!

Mar_05 to get rid of the frizz on my curls I make a concoction that actually has works wonders!
I mix 100% pure Aloe Vera, with pure Glycerin on my wet hair...then seal it with a silicone sealer. Let it air dry..and the curls come back to life and no frizz.
I do not recommend this mix for Flat ironing hair since Glycerin is an oil, and will no go well with heat.

I posted regimen on my journal... after the damaged done but the LK Treatment..I will continue and stick with my regimen (lesson learned). It sucks that that treatment messed up my hair color. I sure loved my golden curls. Now is a dark RED mess, and I look like carrot top if I want to go curly.

I also have a new regimen for when I want to wear my hair straight.

Also I wanted to point out something suspicious: It's funny how the communication with the Liquid Keratin customer service stopped after I posted the horrible results here.
Hi - I am new poster. I tried Liquid Keratin two weeks ago, and it turned my light blonde highlights very brassy - almost orange. I have used Coppola previously, but it's so expensive and I have been trying to cut down on salon expense. The LK procedure seemed identical to the Coppola process , but what a disaster. My colorist was able to correct most of the brassiness - but would not even touch my hair for one long humiliating week. Like many of the posters, my hair feels very dry and damaged after the LK. I have been putting oil on my hair before bed, and mixing oil in with styling products before blow drying, and this seems to be helping a little. If only I had known about this forum two weeks ago - I would have avoided LK and saved myself a lot of grief!! Thanks for all the good information. . .
ok so i've never heard of this regimn...i'll visit your site soon i'm sure its full of details....

where would i find these products (pure silicon and glycerin?)

i just thought i'd add something else that's fishy about this product...there is no guarantee. usually, products like these have some sort of moneyback guarantee or the like. I don't know about this LK treatment but i'm pretty sure it really opened my eyes to how manipulative product marketing can be.

Only the first 2 pages have messages with outstanding results by marketers. It is clear, once people who ordered the product started responding, the original posters backed off for their mission was accomplished.

i've never posted on a message board but i had to because i am ridiculously shocked...what are your comments woody?!?!?!

I just got back from the salon. I have spent three hours having my hair corrected from the horrible, Liquid Keratin Treatment. My hair turned a horrible brassy orange. I e-mailed the company as well and was asked to submit which I did. I have yet hear back from them. The stylist said she had never seen anything like this before. It is not even completely fixed!!It may take several times of highlighting to get it back to normal. I am furious they indicated this was safe for color treated hair! Please let me know if anyone else has had this problem!

YOu know? I am in such a shock to NOW find out more people coming out with the same side effects of the LK.
The biggest insult to me is that all my communication with L keratin T stopped once I started posting and reporting and keeping track about the awful side effects of this treatment in my hair. And finding out that they have been making me feel that I am the only person in the world to experience all these side effects.

The first reply from my first email about my results to LK Customer service came from the company's president himself:

Dear ****,

I am surprised to hear of your poor experience with Liquid Keratin. We have spent a long time perfecting the formula and have tested on all hair types and colors. This is the first time we have heard of any results like this and of course we are concerned and would like to speak with you to discuss your experience. We do not require you to send in any pictures, however, if you can, that would be helpful in helping us to understand the issue. Please let me know when would be a good time to call you and at what number.

Thank you,

David Allice
President
Liquid Keratin Inc.

Also about color treated hair this is what he answered to me:

"Color Treated Hair?

Liquid Keratin is safe to use on color treated hair. However, as with all hair treatments, we recommend performing a strand test in a discreet location prior to application, particularly if you have bleached or chemically colored/altered hair. For best results, apply the Liquid Keratin treatment 1 - 2 weeks prior to your color treatment."

I applied the treatment to my hair, which was colored 4 weeks before/prior to the treatment (notice my roots in the photos in my journal). I also did a strand test, which came out great....what I did not know is that my hair color would change progressively every hour and day..turning more orange as days go by. So be aware that the strand test will not show that effect on the hair in 48 hrs...the hair will change day by day. You can have the treatment done today successfully, and in 3 days you can start noticing the awful damage.

Please, please..save your money. If you want o have a Keratin treatment done, go spend the money for the REAL ones out there, don't settle up for this crap just to save money, cause at the end you will end up spending a lot more trying o correct the damage.

I received the exact same messages you listed above. My hair did the same thing. It looked great at first but started to become orange. I can't believe they did not provide better instruction for color treated hair.
