Question Styling Product to Straight, no silicones or proteins?

I am looking for a good styling product to straighten my hair. I'm 2c and I don't want silicones or proteins.
What do you recommend to me?

I wanted to help, but unfortunately don't have any to recommend (though I've tried). I spent many months looking for straightening products without silicones. I found a few (but they usually had proteins) and didn't protect my hair very well at all.

For what it's worth, after being totally cone-free for a year, I can honestly say my hair was in much better shape before, when I used cones and occasionally clarified. Clarifying shampoo dries my hair a bit, but it's better than permanently damaging my hair with a flat iron because I didn't have enough product protection. JMHO. I use a sulfate-free shampoo for normal washing and don't really have build-up issues. I clarify maybe once a month.

Thank you for your reply.
Sorry, what does JMHO mean?

It stands for "just my humble opinion."

Oh yeah and I thought of a really nice product that doesn't have silicones (and I don't think it has proteins). Ojon Tunu Hair Relaxer. I can't believe I forgot about this! It's even in my signature. Anyway it's an awesome product, but it has a weird tobacco kinda smell. You should check it out but smell it before you buy it so you know if you can handle the smell. Some love it (like me) and others hate it.

Default What diggity said

I have found that using 'cones in all my products, and shampooing once a week, has put my hair in the best condition it's been in in years. I have tried CG three times and I'm done with it now--I still use some valuable tips like co-washing and cutting down on heat styling, but the rest--meh. I can honestly say that since I went back to 'cones-a-palooza I haven't had any split ends, dryness, or damage, and my hair looks better than it ever did when I tried CG.

Default Other products...

When I bought my Maxiglide it came with a straightening gel that was absolutely fantastic. It protected really well and kept my ironed hair straight in any weather. If you can buy it separately I would highly recommend it...I think it was called "Forever Straight" or something like that. It's in the back of my closet somewhere, I may have to dig it out and give it another whirl
