Seeking Curl Friendly Salon in Hamilton, On. area.

Hello,
I am looking for a curl friendly salon in Hamilton ON. I have had many stylists tell me that they cut curly hair and I end up walking out with super frizzy (cotton ball look) hair or they blow it straight . I like my curls I just dont like the stylists Ive been too. I have fine but alot of 3c hair and it is shoulder length when it is dry. I would like it if someone could point in the direction of someone they used.

Thanks, HamiltonONCurls---- Not sure if this is the place to post a ? like this but would greatly apreciate any info.
Did you ever find a curl-friendly salon in Hamilton? I've done the drive to Toronto but it's too far and would love to fine a good salon here in Hamilton. Although not a salon, I want to be sure that you know about Ellenoire in Dundas for product.
Are you gals still looking?
Ive been recomended to a place in waterdown, but haven't gone as I cut my own hair. I am considering it tho as I need to establish with a good stylist becasue I wont continue to cut my own hair forever.

Anyway, if you haven't found one yet, let me know and I'll post the rec. With the disclaimer that I haven't been but a curly friend has.
I'd like to find out the name of the salon. I got my hair cut in New York in January and won't have to get anything done for a while, but I can't afford to go to New York just for a cut! Thanks so much!
Hi: I'd also like to know the name of the curly friendly salon close to Hamilton. Actually, if anyone knows of a salon closer to St.Catharines that would be even better.
Thanks, Karen
Me too! I'm moving to Toronto in a couple weeks though...surely I can find a place there.

I'm in St. Catharines but I haven't been able to find anything. Last hair cut I had was with Paul at Storm on Glenridge Ave. I was not impressed. The hair cut was ok but not worth $65 and defintely didn't like having my hair straigtened afterwards. I haven't been back since I started CG 6 months ago.

Karen - Where do you go in the Falls?
I heard that the Jonathan Torch Salon was great. Thats in Toronto. Actually they even have seminars for curly hair. I was going to go last year but didn't make it. Right now my daughter in law's sister has been cutting my hair. She's a hair dresser and now that she's had children she works from home. She also has curly hair. I just find that she hasn't kept up with new things because of her kids, so I'd like to try someone new. Good luck on your move to Toronto.

Might be a stupid question but did you try CurlSalons...the salon locators site listed here on naturallycurly.com?

what i've noticed a lot of times going into a hair salon is that they're so amused with curls that they touch and play with them so much that i end up walking out with a fro ahah...a place that i've gone a lot to and gotten great hair cuts from is Moxxy hair in stoney creek...its on rymal practicly next to walmart...i went there today and walked out with a pretty great hair cut...another place is in limeridge mall...i can't remember what its called but its beside the pet store i think, they're pretty expensive but they know what they're doing even with curly hair, and you can pick the amount of experience your stylist has, which helps...anyway hope this helps!
Here's a suggestion for all you Hamilton people. Nicole (formerly of the Curl Ambassadors) at Sears Hair Studio at Sherway Gardens (in Etobicoke) does a fantastic job. Not quite in the Hammer but still better than a trip to downtown Toronto. They products available aren't fantastic but if you just want a cut (for cheap I might add), that's the place to go.
Sears Hair Studio now has Deva Curl Products available.

Very excited!
Nicole cut and coloured my hair last saturday and my review is now up on curlsalons. I'm so happy with the results, and big thanks to this thread otherwise I never would have found Nicole again.

So I know that the last post was in 2008, which was 4 years ago, but I did a quick search for curl-friendly salons (i.e., Deva trained) and it led me to Ellenoire in Dundas.

I haven't been, but I would love to try for my next hair cut in the fall....

Has anyone else been here or can comment? It's appointment by request only (according to their website).

Hi everyone, I am the owner of ellenoire Boutique and Curly Hair Salon in Dundas. Just FYI, we have been cutting curly hair for 2.5 years and selling DevaCurl for 9 years. Everyone on staff is trained in the DevaCurl cutting method and we always cut hair dry according to the Curly Girl method. As well as our full time stylists, Lorraine Massey's former assistant comes as a guest stylist every 3 months to cut hair for us.
We brought the product line to Canada 9 years ago and sell more than anyone else in the country. If you have any curly issues whatsoever please let us know if we can help! 905 627 9379 is our phone number, email me at ellenoire@ellenoire.com or visit our website at ellnoire: Indulgence for Bath, Body and Home.
I am a Full on CG myself and would never go back...

Hi Ellenoire!

I'm just down the street from you guys in West Hamilton. What is the price of a cut with you? I currently go to another salon (not Deva trained) and have been pretty happy but I'm curious to try a true curly cut...

Thanks!
