Looking for Curlies from Belgium!

Hi fellow Belgian Curlies!

I would be so happy to get to "know" other Belgian Curlies on this website and to know their routines and experiences and so on.
Maybe we could form a little group, perhaps even with a facebookpage?

First of all, introduce yourselves, your product use, routine, curl pattern, ...
I'll start:

Hi Curlies!
My name is Nele, I'm living in Flanders (near Mechelen ;)) and so my native language is Dutch/Flemish.
I'm a 21 year old (22 in April) Translation student Dutch-French-Spanish.

I've started to embrace my natural curls like... 10 days ago and before I straightened it a lot...

My curl pattern: probably 2b now, but with potential to get it to 2c and maybe even 3a when it's healthier (I would love to become somewhere between 2c and 3a).

I'm not yet CG, but consider myself modified CG right now (I already changed my routine to better products and especially less shampoo, but I've still got a lot of work to do). Oh... and I should also mention that my hair gets coloured every 6-8 weeks.

Products:
- shampoo (which I'm avoiding more and more): Professional Wella shampoo for coloured hair, bought at a hair dressers shop in Mechelen ==> contains sulfates and 1 silicon (dimethicone) and still other things I don't know
- conditioner: Professional Wella conditioner for coloured hair, bought in the same shop ==> contains dimethicone and other things I don't know
- when I go for a swim I change the shampoo and conditioner for Wella shampoo that is designed to protect my hair for chlorine
- oil: Professional Wella enrich elixir ==> I absolutely love this stuff, although I'm not really really fond of their conditioners and shampoos, but I looove the oil
- mousse: Tigi Bed Head foxy curls (hair dressers shop) or Wella Pro Max Hold mousse (bought at Wibra :D)

I do like plopping and I've never tried to diffuse, so I will try that later.

I would like to get to know better products and where to get them (and especially if they are CGfriendly products). The only thing from my products I don't want to give up is the oil.... since it's great... and battling the frizzzzz...

So: what is your routine/product use? And where do you get your products?

Just moved to Belgium

I just moved to Belgium about 2 months ago from U.S. I live in Jurbise and I am looking for a stylist to cut my hair that has curly hair experience. I am willing to drive a good distance if the stylist is good. I have had one to many bad cuts and I am really afraid to just try someone that has not been recommended. I use Diva Curl products and I would love to find someone that was trained in the diva cut. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I don't think we have Deva-cut-trained stylists in Belgium, if you however find one... do let us know, I'm always interested in a Deva cut if it's within Belgium

Did not expect to see this topic here! From Belgium as well, Antwerp! I'm yet to find a good hair salon really, they all seem to butcher my hair.

As far as products, I have kept it on a hold for now and just been using a L'Oréal mousse and some Argan oil to hydrate. I was using the Joico products though but they discontinued it :protest:

Send them an email again, hoping they will respond because I have no clue at all what to use from them now...

But ehm, Tigi at Wibra? Whut? I wish the Wibra in my neighbourhood was that awesome lol.

Antwerpen hier.

Has anyone ever been to Wakko? There's one in Antwerpen, Gent and Brussel. They cut hair dry and are supposedly great with curly cuts but I'm too chicken to go because I'm growing out my hair and scared I'll end up with crazy shrinkage again.

Also, I need to go track down all the Wibras in my neighbourhood to check out hairproducts

I'm from A'pen, btw..

Hah nice!! :)
Do you know someone who has been there? I just looked at their website. and I'm willing to go there.
But I recently have had a haircut so maybe next time... also if someone has been there, please post.

Mostly straighties :(
I know 1 curly who was very pleased (and won't go anywhere else anymore) but she tends to mousse her hair until it's one hard scrunchy block of ramen noodles where no curl moves indepedently so I don't know if I trust her judgement. But it seems promising none-the-less.

CurlyFeline 11-04-2014 12:38 PM

Perhaps ask her if she has pictures from right after the cut? And ask her if they cut it curl by curl?

FlemishCurves 11-11-2014 02:23 PM

I might do that.

I've been to 3 Kruidvaten in A'pen so far but I haven't found it yet :(

I've been in one in mechelen and they've got itthere as well. Strange... it's in the hair care section for naturals. not in the regular hair care section.

I just found out Essenza Turnhout has De Tuinen producers and Yes To Carrots/Cucumber. I haven't bought anything yet , I'm going to check if the Essenza in Grand Bazar Antwerpen has them too. They looked like they had some very different products. Even the tea selection seemed bigger in Turnhout.

Yeah I know. :) I used to use it a lot. I like lighter conditioners better now. Have you been able to ask the girl already? I need a hair cut. :(

BELGIUUUUM! :hello2:
I'm from a district in Antwerp.

I've been cutting my hair myself using the method from Delightfully Tacky (a blogger, search her because I can't post any links) and it has never been better. Every hair stylist I'd been to before ruined my hair.
I just use a simple SYOSS brand shampoo and conditioner ('Oleo' thingamajig). My hair doesn't seem to have a problem with sulfates or silicones but I like keeping it to a minimum.
I use a microfiber towel to dry of my hair and I diffuse it.
I really want to start using the LOC method when I'm finished with the products I have now (not naming them because they aren't fantastically good).

KrulKrulKrul 03-01-2015 10:36 AM

am I late to the party?

I'm from Ghent! :) 2C/3A, low porosity and my hairdresser told me I have A LOT of hair... My hair can get really messed up sometimes, like a lot of curls on the bottom but really dry and straight-ish on top :/ I use Garnier ultra doux advocado-olie en galamboter and finish with TIGI Catwalk Curlesque Curls Rock Amplifier and TIGI Bed Head Candy Fixation Totally Baked to get some volume... Any advice on good conditioners would be welcome!
