Beware honeybear
HoneyBear requested Curls products beginning of February. I pm'd her. She didn't respond to my initial pm. When she specifically requested a product, I posted that I had it and she should pm me, if interested. She pm'd me about that product and we "discussed" two other products that I had in quart sized bottles. She didn't want the total amount, so we agreed to amounts, pricing and shipping. I repackaged the products in brand new bottles and sent her the final amount with my PayPal info for payment--at her request.
Didn't hear from her in almost a week, so pm'd her. Her mother was hospitalized, she was stressed and wouldn't be home until the weekend. Didn't hear from her for two weeks. Noticed that she was going onto nc.com, so sent her a pm asking her about the products. She sent me an email that said that she couldn't spend money because of her mother's illness and gas prices.
I sent her this pm:
"I'm sorry that you're going through a bad time. I'm even more disappointed that you didn't have the common courtesy to pm me and let me know you were canceling. Instead, I had to sit with your package in my living room for three weeks and contact you about it.
I'm giving serious thought to posting about this experience on the "bad swappers" thread. It's really not the way most of the people on nc.com conduct "business." "
I only wish that I could post the rant that she sent me! Bottom line is that she didn't consider it a swap because she was purchasing the products from me. Felt that she was dealing with a "vendor"--and people cancel orders all of the time or return goods. This was through the nc.com Swap Board for items that she requested!
Aside from the fact that I dealt with personal issues during that time (FIL's hospitalization, surgery and placement in a nursing home, in addition to two surgeries of my own) and still contacted her, I can't understand not treating someone with the courtesy of letting them know you weren't going to follow through in a timely manner. I shouldn't have to "chase" you down, or have your package sitting on the sofa for three weeks.

Kathy, you're right. If her profile showed that she was online on nc.com then she could've PM'd you and let you know. Common sense and courtesy. We all expect just that.
Sorry you had that experience.

Thanks. I think all any of us wants is for people to treat us as they, themselves would wish to be treated.

Swap Help
Hi Ladies,
This isn't really a complaint but a request for suggestions. I've been a member for a little over a year, but have been coming on here for much longer. I don't necessarily post but I do come on and review different things. Like most of you, I have numerous product just sitting in a drawer that I don't like. I have considered swapping them but just reading all of these threads here have scared the living daylights out of me.
Although my life is mad crazy (full time work, full time school), I believe in taking care of my business. What are some tips in successful swapping? Is the exchange of pix and personal info not recommended? I mean, if I'm offering product, I'm not opposed to giving my personal email and phone number for someone to contact me. I would stand behind what I am sending, but I also want to be protected from scammers. I notice that several people commented they would not do swaps with anyone not firmly esablished (i.e., on the Recommended Swap list, lots of posts etc.) but that doesn't mean there aren't people out here like me that read the boards, APPRECIATE the info and mentoring and would like to get more involved. I still consider myself a newbie and don't think I could contribute much at this point.
I love this site and recommend it to anyone considering going natural. Should I just wait and establish more of a presence on here before considering swaping?
Please advise.

I would do business with you, Sashasez, as would a lot of people here! I think using Paypal takes a lot of the worry about any unknowns because there are protections built in. You sound sincere and I don't think you will have any problem! Good luck !

and please do make sure that you are not sending any payment for goods as a "gift". Always use the option which says "payment for goods/services". This way you are protected in case the person on the other side is a bad swapper, you have some recourse in terms of getting your $$ back.
Good luck. Most people have good experiences here because for the most part, we are all respectful and LOVE our products

Question: how long do you want to put someone in this thread?
I posted two products for swap on 5/19 and was contacted that same day. I mailed her products on 5/21. I emailed her to say that I had sent them and to provide the tracking number on 5/23. She received them on 5/23. When she emailed me to say that she received her products, she also said that she didn't get a chance to send my products because she hurt her leg, so she would have to get her husband to do it. I started to worry that maybe she wasn't legit, so I looked in the Swapper recommendations thread, and she has a few good reviews.
On 5/28, she sent an email saying that her husband mailed the products on 5/27 and the tracking indicated that I should receive them on 5/31 (but didn't provide the tracking number). As of 6/2, I have received the products. I emailed her this morning asking for a tracking number. I was trying to be nice (and not accusatory) saying that sometimes my work post office takes a while to distribute things. I'm also trying to take into account that Monday was a holiday.
What's a reasonable amount of time to expect to receive your products? Normally, if I swap with someone on a Monday, the transaction is complete by Friday (on both ends).IMHO, I think 5-7 business days is reasonable, but I might be wrong....

I NEVER look in this thread! Don't know why I decided to today. This person just posted Shea Moisture products on the board and I was about to buy them! I'm going to decline. Thanks!

Alsaxon, glad the reviews helped. IMO, this member should be banned from swapping/selling stuff. She only posts when she wants to get rid of stuff, yet she can't treat the transactions with any courtesy. Look at how long it took Cnotorious to get her stuff!! And I had to PM her several times - not that she ever answered. She ignored me after telling me once that she was experiencing bad weather. Bad weather I get, but it doesn't take 3 weeks to send a package out unless it's frigging Hurricane Katrina.
Anyway, I don't care if she gets mad, I posted a warning in her swap thread.

I wish there was way to ban a user from swapping. You sort of like 3 strikes you're out. Anyway, I wasn't expecting to find anything and I did. Thank you ladies!!

Or if there was a way for you swaps to show up in your profile...or maybe some kind of rating system

Yeah almost like an ebay rating of some sort. You know some sellers have 99% satisfaction other 80% etc.

Need Help!!!
Ok I bought some Donna Marie Curling Cream from someone and I was told that it is suppose to smell like cake batter but when I got it, it smelled like straight chemicals no sweet smell at all. Does this mean it was old?

I swapped recently & had the swapper nickel and dime me on the price. I sold the item to her 95% full for $10 shipping included. Now she has it listed as only used once for $10 PLUS shipping? Big thumbs down....I PM'd her about and she ignored me hopefully she'll see this & update her listing.

Overcharging Swapper.
I had a swapper tell me the price for 6 items was $30 dollars. She later told me that she'd already swapped one of the items and that the price for 5 items was still $30.00. I asked her how this was so since she gave away one of the products already and she wouldn't clarify. I explained to her that this was bad business and did not make sense. She basically told me that I don't know how much these products cost regular price and if I really wanted them I could order from the site. Mind you I own several of these products.
I'm sorry but am I wrong for questioning this? The price did not include the shipping but when I added up each item at the price she gave it came out to $30.00.

I don't think you're wrong, I wouldn't go through with the swap if I were you. She's not proving herself to be trustworthy. If it were me, I'd be worrying the whole time if the products were really as she'd represented them to be, or if they were older, more used, not as fresh, etc. It would be more trouble than it's worth.
Plus I'd be insulted that she implied I didn't know enough about the products to know how much they cost. Does she think you're too ignorant (or lazy) to do a little research before deciding to swap? That's what I'd think, anyway.
I'd just have such a bad feeling about the transaction after her trying to charge the same price for 5 items as she was charging for 6, I wouldn't want to complete it.
(I kind of want to know who this person is, I feel like I want to be forwarned myself!)
Good luck!
