Wow, that is a bad situation. I'm also struck by the gall of this person continuing to blithely post to these boards as if she hasn't just totally screwed one of the members (and maybe others). You owe it to yourself and to others to call her out. I can forgive someone who is a victim of circumstance (car broke down, snowstorm, etc) and put up with a few days' delay, but the kind of behavior you've described is completely unacceptable.

Sorry you had to go through that and I think you have every right to be annoyed! I agree with Jillipoo. It think if you post your complaint here, maybe you'll finally get a response from her. And if not, at least you'll save others from going thru the same frustration you've been through.

I am glad that this thread exists, so that there is some kind of resource and protection (or just a warning) if it's necessary, though.

Default I need help!

Hello all. I need help re: reporting a swap, or giving it more time.

Long story short. 3 weeks ago I agreed to swap with a member here and received a product that was full of hairy mold. The day I got it, 4/23, I sent her a message telling her about the moldy surprise. She never responded. But in her defense, she hasn't logged in since that morning. I sent the message that afternoon.

What do I do? I've had a product that I paid for and can't use for 2 weeks now. Do I need to wait for her to login? What if that's 2 months from now?

I really need your advice.

Sahara, that's a tough one, for sure. I always like to think that people don't do that kind of thing intentionally -- it's likely that she had the product for a while and didn't even know what was going on inside.

But that doesn't change the fact that you paid for something you can't use.

Have you PM'd as well as emailed (if possible)? She might be on vacation or something. Did you pay via PayPal? If you did, you can always file a claim through them -- and that will likely get her attention.

A good swapper/seller, though, generally follows up with the recipient to make sure everything arrived as expected. If she's new, maybe she doesn't know that?

Today I received what should have been a "brand new" jar of Pur Whipped Gelly from Afroveda. It was immediately obvious this item wasn't brand new since the owner has changed her labels and this product has the older label. The item also had hairs on the outside of the jar as well as inside. I will refrain from posting the users name until I see what her explanation for this flat out lie is.

Not a good transaction with ESSENCE! Received items that were supposed to be brand new, and they were used. I tried to resolve the problem, and ended up no where, i wouldn't have had a problem if the items were stated what "real" condtion they were in. I had great swaps/transactions with so many others but this one was bad, beware!!!

I hate to do this, but I had a transaction with nativecurly that didn't go so well. She posted 3 items she wanted to sell, I PM'd her saying I'd purchase 2 of them. The shipment came quickly but when I opened the box one of the items was the wrong item! I've tried contacting her, but she hasn't been on the site since that time, so I'm stuck with an item I didn't want, and don't have an item I did want! I'm sure it was just a mistake, but it's been about a week and still no contact back.

I see she just joined on 9/11 too, so maybe she just got on to sell her items and doesn't plan on coming back on???

Default Warning: Do Not Swap With This Person!!!!

I recently made a post looking for items that I have been keeping my eye on for a while and wanted to try. I've had many great opportunities to swap, sell and buy from many people here without any problems. So, in response to my post I recieved an email from NubianCoils stated she had an item I was interested in. Great!! So I thought. We corresponded and she wanted the payment to be sent as a "gift",so she wouldn't have to pay PayPal fees. So I sent it as a "gift". HORRIBLE CHOICE ON MY PART!!! After a few days of no notice of shipment, I emailed her. No responce! For 8 days, I recived no response from her on several emails to her on naturallycurly or her personal email!!! She basically STOLE my MONEY! I feel that I have given her ample time to respond to me and she didnt. I know that she has logged into her account because she has recently made post on the hair board!!!! THIS IS A SHAME AND A CRIME!!!!!! AND since the money was sent as a "gift" I cant dispute the transaction on Paypal!! I dont know what to do!!! I am soo disgusted!!! How could you do that NubianCoils????

LADIES ANY ADVICE?!?! How can I handle this situation? Anyone ever been in this situation before? what did you do?

So if NubianCoils decides to give me my money back (because I dont want her products anymore) then this post will be removed!! BUT until then, she needs to be put on BLAST!!!!!

UPDATE: RECIEVED PACKAGE TODAY 10.12.09. SHE DID NOT INFORM ME THAT THE PRODUCTS WERE OLD (VERY OLD PACKAGING) AND THE OLD FORMULA. PLUS THE CONTAINERS HAVE HAIR IN THEM, EWWW!!! I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THEM IF I KNEW THIS INFORMATION. STILL VERY UNSATISFIED WITH THIS TRANSACTION. WASTED MONEY. WILL NOT BE USING THESE PRODUCTS. ALSO I HAVE STILL NOT RECIEVED ANY COMMUNICATION FROM HER.

If you want to swap an item from someone, just look for their name in the Swapper Recommendations thread and the Swapper Complaints thread. Then you can know about past transactions

I hope its not inappropriate for me to ask these questions here but I didn't know where else to ask. I have never swapped/sold/purchased on here so I wanted to get some info.

Is there anything you can do besides post here if you have a bad swap?

Since I am new to swapping, is there anything I can do to help a potential swapper/buyer/seller more comfortable? I have been using Ebay for yrs and have all positive feedback so I guess I can direct them to my Ebay SN?


Would it be unfair to say I'll sell to anyone who uses Paypal but I will only sawp with someone who has a positive reputation on here or Ebay?

What do you all think? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

Most of us only take PayPal. It's not unreasonable to make those comments about positive feedback. But I must say, I've done tons of swaps and 750+ transactions with my samples--had very few negative experiences. The PayPal shipping for printing your labels is a good idea. They require shipping confirmation--it's only $.19 when you print the label from them and free with Priority Mail. My worst experience was when I didn't use confirmation for an expensive product--it was the only time something wasn't received and I had no recourse but to return the money.
