I don't know but I don't think people are as honest as they should be, or have good intentions when swapping/selling. From now on, I think I will just purchase from the vendor. It's safer.
Yes, it Eluka paid with Paypal, she should be able to get a refund unless the money was sent as a gift. If the person screwed you, they will investigate and you *should* get it back. I imagine that doesn't always work, but it has worked for me regarding Ebay. They went after 2 people for me and I did get my money back.

Ladies, I've been so busy of late that I'm just responding, but yes, I did open a Paypal dispute and immediately escalated it to a claim, since I already tried to communicate to resolve this before this point.

All I have to add to Nea's list is that for anyone who does have a bad experience, don't hesitate to post the name of the person concerning your experience. If I had known there was a history, I would have bypassed this chick.

Apparently, there are also swappers who have been doing this a while that aren't really doing this on the up and up either. I run a business, so I don't have an issue with packing materials, but really, even using some shredded newspaper makes great insulation.

As for hairs in/on products.... I mean really... do we have to educate grown women on hygiene???? Uuuuggghhh! Common sense says... would you buy hair products that have hair in/on them???

The worse excuse to me in the world is about being unable to get online. You were able to get online to put a product up for swap and to COLLECT my money, so you should be able to get online to RESPOND to your messages. Plain and simple. As Ed Lover says, "C'mon Son! GTFOHWTBS!"

Anyway, I'm done buying on the swap boards. I'll stick with the vendors and people I've dealt with in the past.

Again, I hate to sound mean, but really, folks need to grow up.

Note: "You" means anybody.

Why would you send products in an "unprotected" state? I HATE to receive boxes, with spilled products inside.

Why would you send products with your "hairs" included in the jar? Why? That's triflin'. I don't want MY hairs in my products, let alone yours.

Why would you send a product, without checking to make sure it hasn't separated, doesn't have mold growing in it, and hasn't dried up? That's nasty.

Once you take someone's money/product, you're obligated to send the items you agreed to send...in a timely manner. Why is that not clear?

Computer failure, family emergencies, etc., don't excuse your responsibility to communicate with folks who've purchased/swapped with you. Let them know what's going on. Most people are reasonable. If you have to ask a friend to check your emails and reply to any inquiries, do that.

Honestly, I don't know what's wrong with people.

I am losing my patience today. In two months, I've received Qhemet OHHB with little pieces of hair throughout and two jars of Afroveda from different sellers UNTAPED, with product spilled all over the envelopes. It's Afroveda, people - the jars are snap top lids! They must be taped closed if they've already been opened once - especially when you're shipping them in padded envelopes. Is that how you would want these products shipped to you? You'd think this would be common sense, but I suppose it's not. And "I must have forgotten" or "I didn't know" just aren't acceptable when you've taken someone's money in exchange for your product.

I absolutely agree. I received a 16oz jar of Afroveda TTAGB in an envelope and the lid was not taped. It's no surprise that when I received the product half of the contents was in the envelop. When I contacted the seller her response was " [she] shipped out 10 packages that day, and not ONE PERSON complained about how their item(s) was packed or shipped ... I find it hard to believe that the contents spilled out." Seriously??? The seller is in the US, I'm in Canada and 16oz of product was shipped in an envelope without securing the lid. There really are no words to explain her reasoning. Anywho the seller gave me a partical refund, so that's why I choose not to disclose her name.

ITA. I feel like it is the responsibility of the seller to maintain contact with the buyer and provide delivery confirmation. How else are we supposed to track packages??? And I feel like the seller should make it a priority to ship the sold items within 1-2 business days after receiving the payment. If the buyer has paid you promptly, then why not ship just as promptly? I know we all have jobs and/or other responsibilites but how hard is it to stop at the post office before/after work (or even during lunch) to mail a package? Its only fair.

I gave away some products about a month ago, and all I was asking was reimbursement for S&H. I got stiffed. So, I won't be giving away freebies in the future on this board.

You should post their names on here!!!! SHAME on them!!! You can't be too trusting with people, always assume the worst. Don't let them get away with it and set up your paypal acct.

Default DONE with swapping on this forum

Why are people so inconsiderate? We all have jobs/lives but if you put an item up for sale why is it such a problem for you to follow through??? I've done book swaps and swapped on makeup alley and it's nothing like what I've encountered here. I had a pkg. all ready to go but was missing a small detail on shipping. The person kept me hanging for DAYS only to reply that they "changed their mind" WTF??? Have some consideration! Not to mention the numerous times I've PM'd to inquire about an item and not even get the decency of a reply.

The only good swap I've had so far is with kathy mac.

It really is a shame that there are an increasing number of people who exhibit such flaky behavior with swaps here. But at least we have this thread to report their behavior -- and you totally *should* report that behavior, including the person's name/handle -- so they'll know that grownups don't transact business that way....

And please rest assured that there are plenty of us on these boards who do follow through and make perfectly pleasant swap partners.

I'm sorry that you had that experience, though.

sorry this happened to you

For the most part, I've had great swaps on here and I do a lot of swapping. Once in a while I get a flaky one and yes it's annoying. I had a recent swapper who wanted me to send her pkg. to "AB" no full name? I thought that was odd and so I asked her to please send me her full name because I was getting a paypal error trying to send it that way. She didn't reply until many days later and suddenly changed her mind too. I wonder if it's the same person

Very Weird

well if the swap didn't go through I'm not sure that I should put their names on here......some people have had actual BAD swaps or didn't get paid & they don't put the names on. I don't get that at all. Guess I just don't understand swapping on this forum. People need to conduct themselves as if it were a business transaction and use some common courtesy. Period.

Sorry to do this but it's really true that people need to conduct themselves appropriately. We exchanged addresses, you agreed to a swap.

You don't waste someone's time/energy getting a pkg. ready to ship and then ignore messages.

Swappers beware: Curly_Jammy

if she decides to respond to my PM's I will remove this.

I have never had an issue swapping since I have been on Naturally Curly, all of the people I swapped with me, have given me good reviews.

Like I relpied in my message to you:
I did not like the tone in the several emails you sent and I choose not to swap with you, because I felt uncomfortable.

I will not be bullied or harassed into swapping with you. I am busy person and travel quite often, I cannot reply to PMs the same day you send them to me.

Well luckily I've never had an issue swapping here either.

I didn't ask for a reply on the same day, but several days later you still chose not to reply. I even gave you my personal e-mail in case you couldn't log on to NC.

This isn't about harassing or bullying *rollseyes* it's about being considerate and following through with your WORD. You gave me an incomplete address, I asked for you to please give me the full address so I could mail your pkg. If you didn't like my "tone" it was because you didn't follow through. If I had mailed your pkg. and you didn't get it then I would have ended up on the bad swaps, I was protecting myself.

I treat swaps like a business transaction and that's how it should be. If you can't follow through in a courteous, timely fashion then don't waste my time.
