Default HUGE Cupboard Clean-Out!! Updated 1/5/10

I'M PUTTING A CLEANED-UP COPY OF THE LIST WITHOUT ALL THE PREVIOUSLY SOLD ITEMS AT THE END OF THE THREAD - MAYBE EASIER TO READ

I think I've been fair on my pricing which includes shipping costs, but feel free to make me an offer if you disagree. Products that say they're almost full have only been used 1-3 times, usually no more than twice. Nothing's wrong with any of it - I'm either overstocked or it just didn't work well enough for me and my hair to keep it in the rotation.

Most products are CG, and I think most, if not all, the others are at least modified CG with water soluble cones. Hairsprays all have alcohol, of course, which is the only reason I'm not keeping them - I'm trying to totally break that habit.

I take PayPal, preferrably in the form of a gift to avoid PayPal charges. If interested in something, PM me your address (won't show up in PayPal even if they have it if you send payment as a gift) and I'll give you the e-mail address to direct payment to.

ETA: Minimum order of $10 or it's not worth my shipping costs.

Non-Hair Products:

1 KBB Olive Oil lotion, used once - Egyptian Musk - new $12/sell $10

1 KBB Body Splash (spray), used once - Egyptian Musk -- new $14/sell $10
(I like the scent so much I decided to try the body products, but the scent didn't last 10 minutes on me - could've still used the lotion but decided to just sell it with the splash as a set - priced kinda low in case it's not just me the scent doesn't last with - I just realized I left KBB off when I posted these!)

1 unused 25.5 oz. Hand & Body Lotion - Alyssa Ashley Musk by Houbigant - new $20/sell $18

1 unused 3.4 oz. Eau de Toilette - Alyssa Ashley Musk by Houbigant - new $22/sell $20

1 unused .5 oz. Perfume Oil - Alyssa Ashley Musk by Houbigant - new $22/sell $20

OR THE ENTIRE ALYSSA ASHLEY SET FOR $55

(There's nothing wrong with this - I just misplaced the paperwork and can't return it. I loved this in high school and college and saw it on-line and ordered it only to find my tastes have changed, and it seems a little too sweet to me now)

1 unused .375 oz. bottle Terra Nova China Musk Perfume Essence Oil - $12 new/sell $10
(bought on-line based on description of scent at the same time I ordered the Alyssa Ashley stuff - don't like scent myself but can't return)

1 barely used (twice) bottle Egyptian Goddess perfume oil - $25 new/sell $20
(Like the scent a lot, but it doesn't last on me, although better than the KBB Egyptian Musk does)

(WOW! It's an even longer list than I realized - I must qualify as at least a PJ princess, if not the queen!)

Essence, I'm sorry, but can I interest you in something else in addition to this? It'll cost me my entire asking price to ship it to you with just this one small item - I got your PM but decided to answer here for others' benefit as well.

I'm sorry, I didn't think of this at first. I've since edited it to add a minimum order amount. Ya'll, please bear with me - again, I'm new to this

Ladies, Essence told me she thought the size KBB hair butter I had was the size in their sample pack, so I looked back and found that order to see.

She's right, I got four items for $25, so $6.25 each. The only other item of the four that I have listed is the jojoba oil. I've revised both of their new and selling prices accordingly.

Wow, how does anyone actually recoup any of their money doing this? I just spent just under $30 to ship 4 packages! They were too heavy for first class, and the Parcel Post cost was only a few cents less than Priority, so I just sprang for that (except one whose Parcel Post cost was considerably less) - and this was all without tracking or insurance.

Between shipping, PayPal's cut and, of course, trying to give buyers somewhat of a deal, how can you make it worthwhile? Any tips from veterans are appreciated, LOL!

I'm not a "veteran" but I have done a few transactions/swaps. Recently I've asked for people to send their payments as a gift to avoid fee's. I also try to make sure the prices offer cover at least half of the shipping. You should also try printing the labels from USPS.com since they offer free delivery confirmation and sometimes a better deal based on the lbs/oz. Buying boxes and shipping materials from the Dollar store also helps since you can usual get two or three envelopes/boxes for a buck. HTH

This is the same problem I just ran into. I did swaps which was fine since I got stuff back and they paid to send to me but for 4 packages I paid $45 at USPS. It cost me $9 to ship one 3/4 full 16 oz jar of stuff that was worth $10 or so.

I've pretty much decided to either offer up a box or set or something or to just give the stuff away. Postage is just too much unless it's one item in a padded envelop but I always worry it will open.

If someone buys a lot then you can do a flat rate box which makes sense. I now see why curlmart and others charge what they do to ship! It really IS expensive! I really didn't know!

No tips...just empathy!

Thanks, ya'll. At least I haven't had to buy boxes or packing materials - just reused packaging I've received stuff in.

I did have one person send her payment as a gift, and you're right, labelfree, it didn't have the PayPal charge deducted. However, it also said it didn't have an address on file for her so I had to PM her to get it - she said that'd never happened before, though.

The flat rate boxes at the PO need to have one in between that small flat one and the next size up. The first is too small for most bottles and jars while the next one is larger and more costly than need be, most of the time.

I think it's just going to take some trial and error to find what works best.

You would be surprised how much the envelopes hold. I had someone send me 4 8oz bottles of gel in one of those envelopes.

Yeah, I used envelopes today for a couple of orders, and they were cheaper. The previous orders were too large, though.
