Scared!

So my whole life I have been defined by my hair. Even now I always get at least on compliment about my hair if I go in public. So, I dont know what to do thinking my hair will not be so great soon. I have a little bit of a receding hairline. It isnt so bad right now...only the widow peak has thinned. But I dont know what to do I am devasted.

I know my thyriod has yo-yo'd between hyo and normal, so I am going to get it checked again. NO ONE in my family has hair loss...not even my dad. I am only 25...what am I going to look like in 10 years.

How can i ever recover if it gets bad...this is the one thing about me people tell me is beautiful often.
Definitely reevaluate your thyroid status since hypothyroidism can cause thinning. Also responsible is iron deficiency. I know since I have been taking iron, as I am anemic, my hair has become thicker in my crown area. Castor oil and rosemary are good scalp treatments for hair growth. Don't despair!
Good Luck
I can relate. My hair is thinning rapidly, especially at the widows peak area as well. It can be very devastating. My hair loss is Stress/post-partum related and I have been to a dermatologist for it. She told me to use Rogaine for Women and take Biotin every day. I just started doing that so we will see how it works. I know how you feel; my hair has always been one of my best qualities and all of this makes me very Self-sconscious. Saturday I went and Got my hair cut hoping to hide the effects of my thinning hair and make my hair look fuller; it helped some. My hair stylist was able to cut it in a way that makes it seem fuller and she got alot of the length off (my hair would get tangled in the ends and I would end up pulling more hair out trying to comb it or style it). I am 31 years old and have always had pretty full hair; I'm terrified that I might go bald if it continues at this rate. I know how this makes me feel, so if you ever need to talk about it I can totally relate and sympathize.
Hatingmyhair:: Please keep us posted if Rogaine works for you! I am interested in getting some

My mom never had much thinning until she was dying. My father made it to a couple weeks shy of turning 90 with no receding hairline and only minimal thinning and some graying.

But, my niece has alopecia and my sister lupus which sometimes causes her hair to drop out in patches.

I hate that my one good feature is sapping away...

Anyway, I didn't have any rosemary, but I made an MSM/sage concoction and put that on my scalp, then some condish. I'm sitting here letting it perk up there then will wash before bed. I also started taking Biotin and Flaxseed combo today (I had taken it on and off, but not faithfully). I also need to get faithful with the zinc (which I do tend to be dietarily deficient in). I wish I could take the MSM and the UltraNourishair, but can't, so I'm gonna see if I can tolerate it as a scalp paste when I precondish.

I was taking MSM capsules for my knees (bad knees), but I had an allergic reaction and had to stop. I was hoping it would help my hair, too. So, I can't even take the Nourshair cause it has the MSM.

I don't remember the exact chemical name, but a google will give it up.

Thyroid issues can make your body go crazy, and as you know, your hair is often a reflection of your health. I highly recommend changing your diet and start working out, if you do not already. You can always try different hair styles to cover up the hair loss; however, I'm confident that a healthy lifestyle will definitely help. I am not sure how you eat now, but maybe you are lacking some important vitamins. Good luck!

You've given good advice on use volume and I was wondering if with volumizing products ...is it shampoo, conditioner and styling products that should all be volumizing. In your opinion does volumizing shampoo/conditioner help much? I'm going to buy the Ultranourishair tomorrow and try that.
3b, fine textured, thin and normal to high porosity.
Nioxin products are suppose to help with thinning. I'm using this line now but I haven't used it for a long period yet. I haven't tried the vitamins, but they are made to go along with the system.
GNC Ultra Nourish Hair has 10mg of cayenne pepper in it. I recently started drinking cayenne powder mixed with a little warm water for heart & vascular health...working my way up to 1tsp everyday. Anyway, just read about a study on inhumanexperiment.blogspot.com , about 6mg of capsaicin & 75mg of soy isoflavones given to humans and rats for 5months to grow hair. It works....they have pictures and everything. Capsaicin is the stuff in cayenne and chille peppers that makes them hot. You should check this out...I just ordered some soy isoflavones from the vitamin shoppe...oh and I know MSM works because when I stopped, I noticed some thinning. I've experienced some thinning do to a hysterectomy 14yrs ago...no bald spots but my hair, even though its fine textured, use to be so thick so I'm tryin my best to hang on to what I've got
