pleaseeee helpp!
Try heavier gels or products that'll cut down how dense your hair appears. Like EcoStyler Olive Oil is what cuts down my density when that's the look I want.

Research heavier leave ins too . . like Tresemme Nautrals.

I know people that thin their hair with shears regret it afterwards.

Probably posting on a thread meant for people with thin/thinning hair is not going to get you many answers as the curlies posting on this thread would rather have your problem. I personally have no experience with your issue.

It's actually pretty insensitive of you to post about your problem with thick hair on a thread for people with thinning or thin hair. I mean sheesh!!
Sure. Get lupus like me. That will do it. Try taking some steroids everyday or something. Are you serious? Why would you ask that question HERE of all places?

oh, here's another thinning tip. Try pulling handfuls out if you realize how insensitive you sounded.

Really, I think that the OP probably just saw "thinning hair" and thought that was like "straightening hair", a forum to talk about how to thin your hair.

That question is better for the General forum, there is advice there on how to cut dense hair so that it will lay and curl better.

Med-Coarse, LowPorosity, NormalElast (LCLF)

Shoulder-Length now.

Wash: DevaCare Low Poo

Mayb she just thought 'thinning' was being used as a verb. Or it's a troll. There's been no response so...
Guys, guys. I know many people on this thread here have problems with thinning hair because of diseases or such, but this is not insensitive. My 50 year old mom has problems with it! I know she wouldn't be offended. The OP just wants thin hair, when many of you want thick. Its like complaining about wanting freckles to people who have them and dont want them. Its not insensitive, we all just want what we dont have. And she asked an honest question, why beat on her? I'm sure shes sorry that it offended you all, and I bet its because you scared her that she hasn't replied. Just take a minute to clam down, and realize that its just a girl who wants thin hair, and who posted in the wrong section!
Feels troll like. 2 posts and never comes back.....

Maybe she couldn't find the website again (I had to dig for 10 minutes in my history box!), or like I said, is scared because everyones pissed at her. Either way, dont be too quick to call her a troll. Its not troll like enough for me to decide that. And this forum topic could easily be for people who want to thin their hair too, it doesnt specify clearly. There also is another section for diseases or conditions that affect hair. So everyone, lets just move on, and forget about it. I doubt shes coming back.
Hey! I'm type 3a/3b too...
I actually thinned my hair myself since I felt it was too big... I know I probably shouldn't have but I like to experiment... Well it worked pretty well, I bought thinning shears and watched a couple tutorials online. I made sure not to do too much, just be careful cause it take out alooot of hair!! but now my hair is a bit easier to manage. Only big downside- there is more frizz... but if you get the right products, it shouldn't be too bad. But ask a proffesional to do it maybe, cause I'm figuring out for myself... Good luck!
I think she misread the name of the thread too, but I think that if she looked at a couple of the other posts she probably would have caught on quick--she probably didn't even look.

Quite frankly, the one reason I visited this section is cause I was surprised when I saw this as the lead most for this section on the main page, I was like "huh"?

Good luck to everyone who is struggling because of health reasons.

Got some kind of curly bangs going here! And I think my bangs are all natural!

I think that my natural hair is somewhere between a 3b and a 3c, I hope it's not too soon to tell!

Ladies, the poster of this topic not only posted it here, but also in the general discussion area. Both posts were within minutes of each other. I really don't believe it was trolling, but a slight misunderstanding about what the thinning section was about. All hair thinning is not due to a serious medical issue and the thinning forum does not state that it is for posters experiencing hair thinning due to a medical issue or something devastating. I highly doubt the post was meant to be inflammatory.
I don't think she meant to be insensitive. I was looking for information about thinning my hair and "thinning hair" was the first thing I saw. Of course i read through because i tend to "lurk" for a while, but mistakes aren't hard to make.
In case no one is trolling..when I used to have too much hair (and boy do I miss it!) -

- I noticed that gels and strong hold mousses worked for me, creamy type products just added volume. Also I had to put it in my hair when it's soaking wet(and a lot of it) or else it gets poofier.

- Do you have to have your hair short? It's so much easier to deal with when it is longer.

- Thinning shears worked great for me(I got them to thin it underneath at the salon) but apparently they don't work so great for everyone because of the way it grows back.

-The best thing that really helped was to get a sort of relaxer, it loosened up my curl and made the hair smoother and so much easier to handle(rusk anti curl). I'm not sure if that contributed to my current hair loss or not, but I don't think it did.
