Supps that worked for me
Here are some vitamins that I have found have worked for me in a short time.
A good multi w/lotta B vitamins (I take vitacost.com's
one a day formula)
Biotin (Jarrows 5 mg)
MSM (1000 mg in morning, Jarrows powder- this
interferes with sleep if you take it at night but
Silica (55 mg- World Organic)
Zinc (look at what you get from your multi, you don't
want too much -15-30 mg total cuz too much
is not good)
Magnesium (It take about the RDA)
Evening Primrose Oil (1.3g)
Fish Oil (1000 mg)
I added all of these because I read they help with hair loss. I am beginning to see the beginning of growth.
If I was only going to have a few of them I'd go with: multi w/B vitamins
for hair loss.

Thanks for the info. I take MSM and have been for years for my joints, but never really thought it would help with hair. I took biotin a few ago but broke out in horrible cystic acne from it.

Since dec I've been rockin with hsn w/3000mg of biotin, biotin 2500mg, msm 1100mg recently increased to ~1500mg...hair grows 1" every month....actaully started doing monthly LC to confirm the growth...prior to that never botheted with LC but assumed hair growth was 1/2" per mon...added fish oil 1200mg last month but had to take every other day, made me constipated...

- for biotin and MSM
Trader Joe's MSM
Calcium Citrate - I'm a growing girl!
I'm also thinking about taking Omega 3-6-9 from Safeway of flax/borage/fish with evening primrose oil. Anyone tried it?
Does anyone know if these supplements work if your hair loss is medication-induced?
I have RA, and the medication that actually works for me (we've tried quite a few) causes some crappy side effects, but the worst to me is the hair loss. It is visibly thinning, and even though others say they can't see a difference, I can. I can see it, and I can feel it. If some supplements would work, I'd be a happier girl.
I take over a 1000mg a day of magnesium glycinate and malate and it's changed my life.
Aside from the vits & supps that are known to help with thinning and some forms of hl, there are herbs that are reported to help.
I have high inflammation in my body. Some probably from diet. High inflammation is a big contributor to hl if you have it. I'm trying New Chapter Zyflavmend Whole Body softgels to see if it helps. As long as I have inflammation all the vits & supps in the world won't help me. It's pricey but I got it off Amazon. Retail at a whole food store is $45 but using the coupon offered it was $25 for this 2 mo supply. We'll see! It takes a long time to see inflammation go down. Inflammation is also largely responsible for skin issues such as psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis, ....
Just thought I'd share as inflammation is usually only thought to be arthritis, pain...
