Part extending [pics] -- Help me

Hi, I'm posting here because I just don't know what to do. I'm too embarrassed to ask my friends, and I don't want my mother to think I have something serious and not let me go on a trip I have planned.

Could I be going bald even though I'm 17? My part seems to have mysteriously extended far back to my head. From the front, my hair looks normal, so I hadn't really noticed until I saw some pictures taken of me from the back.

Honestly, there could be so many things that could have caused it. This semester was incredibly stressful; I am what you would call an overachiever. I've never eaten well or slept all that much. None of this is new, though.

I don't really have any health problems that I know of. The only thing I am getting checked out at the moment is extremely irregular periods (often 2 to 5 months between periods).

Lastly, I cut my hair short and went modified CG in January. My hair had never looked better until the horrible part in the back. Could it be the low poo (Organix)? Or maybe I shouldn't have clipped back my bangs with duckbill clips every other day to get them to dry straight.

From the back...

It's not easy being a fine-haired wavy in tropical conditions~

Are you positive that your part has not always been like that? Have you always styled your hair the same way? Is there anything you are doing during the styling process that would cause it such as turning your head to each side during drying/styling?

I would not be too worried about it. Unless your hair feels thinner, I would not consider this a symptom of thinning hair. Since I started wearing my hair curly, as opposed to straightening it, and went CG, I have noticed that I have a weird part going down the side of my head. It is just an area where the curls separate. I have learned to style around this and it doesn't really bother me.

If your hair does not feel any thinner but it still bothers you, I would just experiment with ways to style that will fix or cover it up. Use a second mirror so you can see the back of your head when styling.
+1 w/ the previous poster. I wouldn't worry too much about any health problems, or even thinning hair. I've noticed that when styling my hair post shower, there are 1-2 places on my head where the hair looks thin, or I can see a bit of scalp poking through. It's b/c of where the curls have decided to clump, pulling hair away from the scalp. I find that once dry, all I need to do is some upside down fluffing at the roots & everything appears to fall into place w/o any visible scalp issues.

]I too have this issue, but when it's dry and I try to move that piece of hair over to cover that part, it reveals another part of the other side. Is this a sign of less hair density or just that I have a cowlick so no matter where I move that hair a part pops up?? It's a very small amount of hair that I have at the crown, to cover that back section. Wondering why? A little scared!

I'd get that checked out definitely. I know that for some people, this can happen because of being underweight, or being extremely athletic.
I have a funky part in my hair like that too. I just think the curls just like to going a certain way there. who knows, but maybe you could train it to cover thatvpart by putting a berrette the way you want your hair to go.
My hair would do that too, when I would part it in front and then diffuse upside down. Now, I part the hair just a bit in front, and then comb the top back. I look in the mirror to check the back to be sure it is not parting before I diffuse the back, the undersides, and then I flip my hair over. No more back part.
My 11 yo sister's hair does that and every once in a while mine will too. I will either tease it or pull the front back and do a little poof so that the other hair will cover it up
<3 Our love is like the wind; I can't see it. But I can feel it. <3
It's always good to share this so we know we're not alone. I've got to remember to check for it as well before I leave the house. Otherwise I"m admiring my front and forgetting how silly I look in back. I usually leave the house with damp hair though, so I can't do any teasing, maybe need to try training my part better. To go that way!
