Desperate to grow my hair! Please help!

I think I have 3a/3b hair and I'm African American but everyone says they think I'm Hispanic because of the quality and thinness of my hair. I've been trying to grow my hair for year and I've recently started putting Jamaican black castor oil on my scalp and massaging it in everyday for 3 days. I also added some to my conditioner and it has made my hair softer. Does anyone have any other tips I can try? I'm fed up with my just barely shoulder length, thin hair. My goal is to have thick, full mid back length hair. And so far it seems impossible! SOS! Help! I've attached a picture on my hair currently and my goal.
The basics for long healthy hair

Minimal heat and chemicals.

Moisture. Moisture. Moisture! Try baggying your hair at night with deep conditioners or your own concoction. And deep condition at least twice a month.

If you use heat or chemicals on your hair than do a protein treatment once or twice a month as well. If u don't use heat/chemicals than u can get away with doing it like 4 or 5 times a year.

If you notice split ends or single strand knots than trim those when necessary.

Protective styles help lessen split ends and dry hair. So try to keep your hair off your shoulders at least 2-3 times a week.

Supplements like MSM, garlic, biotin, and V vitamins help aide long hair growing as well.

Good luck (:

You will only know if it does not feel right, always try. Something protein based, you probably mean like a deep conditioner? I use Organic Root Stimulator Hair mayo, and it is for damaged hair I use it once a month, and it is the best deep conditioner for ethnic hair, in my opinion. But you just need to figure out whats right for you.
