Default Jamaican Black Castor Oil

Can JBCO be used on the scalp to encourage growth? I thought a heavy oil would block the glands that secrete the natural hair oils. Any info is appreciated.

I tried it a while ago and it did nothing for me, unfortunately. There's a thread further down this page about it which may help.

AFAIK there is no scientific evidence for the efficacy of castor oil, massage can help tho.

Many oils or butters are non comedogenic (will not block pores), the reason is the fatty acid composition and irritancy, smaller molecule fatty acids are more likely to clog not saturated or 'heavy' ones. Oleic acid (olive, avocado, argan) can be comedogenic, castor is actually used to clear clogging in the Oil Cleansing Method.
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG, growing out mechanical and chemical damage = breakage and very high porosity. Past armpit length heading for waist.

CO-wash: Inecto coconut
Treatments: Komaza Matani, coconut oil, Hairveda Sitrinillah
Leave in: Fructis Sleek & Shine (old), Gliss ultimate volume, Inecto argan
Styler: Umberto Giannini jelly, Boots Essentials gel
Experimenting with: going back to basics
