Post partum hair loss & transitioning.

I am new to NaturallyCurly.com. That being said, I have been relaxed since the age of six. Fast forward I'm now 18 and just gave birth three months ago. I want to transition due to a relaxer increasing the post partum shedding I've been experiencing. It's a very depressing subject for me. I cry every day. I'm scared to even comb or wash my hair.
As a newbie I deep condition with Shea Moisture deep conditioner once a week. The remaining days I rub Infusium 23 leave in conditioner on my scalp and seal it with coconut oil. Is this an ok regimen so far for being three months post relaxer?
Btw- for mothers who have gone through what I have, how long did your hair loss last?
Hi Honey, I know this is an older post but I wanted to chime in.

I'm now 11 months pp. My hair is finally starting to grow back in. My shedding this time was insane. At 3 months pp it was coming out in clumps. I still have a visible scalp, but it's much improved. Now I'm rocking the halo of new hairs.

I've been shampooing with shea moisture retention shampoo every 4 days to give my hair volume trying to hide my scalp. I moisturize like crazy. Lots of conditioner. As I Am coconut cowash is great. Also the shea moisture milk for thinning hair. After I shampoo with shea moisture shampoo I rinse really well, I put the milk on my crown and the coconut cowash on my ends (from the ears down. Do my regular thing in the shower. At the end I comb through my hair with a wide tooth come and squeeze all the condish out. I only rinse quickly at the end to leave some of it in.

With my hair soaking wet I flip my hair upside down and rake through some more of the milk for thinning hair and the shea moisture curling soufflea(sp?), I squeeze a bit of oil onto my ends and scrunch the crap out of it with my hands. Then I use a tee shirt. Flip down, scrunch, side, scrunch, side scrunch, down scrunch. I do this until it's about 70% dry. I then break out my diffuser and repeat the same technique of flip-side-side-flip.

I use my fingers on my crown to lift the hair from the scalp and shake my hair not breaking up the curls.

I hope this helps. Its been giving me the much needed volume to cover this temporary loss.

Also I understand how tough this transitioning period will be. But it will pass! Make sure you're eating lots of protein and fats for healthy hair growth from the inside out.
I've had 3 kids, and I can remember my hair shedding for at least a few months after I gave birth. When I was pregnant my hair got SO long and healthy, and then just fell out everywhere after the birth(s). It will come back in. Do you still take your prenatals? Maybe that could help, or a regular multivitamin. Keep your head up
I lost my hair by the fistful postpartum and the entire time I was nursing. It improved once I weaned and has come back, so try not to worry. I know it's hard not to though.
