Default No longer transitioning...

The Big Chop was performed on 1/15/2011. I received a nice cut, and am really liking my new 'do. Many have given me nice compliments.

Why? I thought that perhaps I could be a long-term transitioner. But, it was not meant to be. I arrived at an epiphany about two weeks ago, coupled with a very informative Felicia Leatherwood webinar in which I participated on 1/9/2011, which motivated my decision. Honestly, I do not miss the relaxed hair. Managing the two textures had reached its breaking point - pun intended. LOL!

Anyway, I am now fully and completely NATURAL!!!

Congratulations! How long did you end up transitioning for and how long is your hair now?

I thought I would transition for a year, but I think I'm going to do my big chop in March. Very excited, but also nervous!

Way to go!

Thank you.

I received my last relaxer touch-up on 1 May 2010. So, about nine and a half months. My hair is about 4 inches except for the top, which is two inches.

Well, then, there's good karma between us.

Getting myself into a good routine is perhaps my biggest challenge right now. I've been trying out different techniques and products to see what works best for my hair. Keeping it well-moisturized is what it seems to require right now. But, I am excited about getting to know this new hair.
