I am experiencing a hair emergency! I am 9 months post relaxer and im at a really weird stage. I can't figure my hair out. Part of the new growth is wavy, part curly, part kinky and matted. The total length of my new growth is about 4in curly (6 stretched out). The permed hair is about 5in long. It sucks up moisture like the sahara desert. Its one big curly, wavy, kinky, straight afro!!!! Im pregnant and im really considering taking some clippers and shaving it all off..........please help!!!!!!

Your hair is reverting back to its natural state therefore your curl pattern may be different in different parts of your head. Also because you hair has been chemically altered in the past some areas will be wavy while other parts will be kinky. Like with my hair it ins current state the sides and back of my hair have a very curly curl pattern while the crown of my hair have a more kinky-curly kind of curl pattern. I've learned to accept the fact the my hair will not all be one texture. But if the differences in your curl pattern is a huge dillema try twistouts or braidouts so that your hair will not look so drastically different!

I have to make the best of the crazy hair textures for right now until I end the transitioning process. I'm planning on ending my transition in December of 2011. I will be constantly trimming my ends and cutting off relaxed ends once I see a curl pattern forming at the roots that's in 2-3 inches in length.

Good luck with the rest of your transitioning!!! You will love your hair once it completely natural!!! I like 95% there and I been loving my curls for a minute now. I glad that you are trimming your relaxed ends, that definitely helps because when you BC you eont have to get too much chopped off. Just continue to love your hair and take very good care of it!!!

However, there is a bit near the crown of my head that is just a really loose wave.

So, do I look like a wavy/curly/straight afro-mess when I do a wash and go? No. It all seems to blend pretty well.

That said, I find it far easier to do twist-outs and pony puffs for the time being. If you haven't already given a twist-out a try, you might want to: it gives your hair a uniform curl pattern and the style is relatively easy to maintain.

Hope that helps
