Default Transitioning for 5 1/2 months

My last relaxer was December 2010 and I've been keeping my hair braided, in kinky twist since February of this year. When I took my braids out yesterday I tried my first Bantu knots and I love it. I have about two and half to three inches of new growth and I can't wait cut my relaxed ends off (which is alot). My original plan was to let my hair grow out for a year, but I don't know now. I may just keep cutting it gradually.

I have been transitioning about 6 months now and I am contemplating putting braids in my hair for the summer. What style of braids have you been using besides the kinky twist because I want to ensure I minimize breakage

I have only done the kinky twist. I didn't have much breakage with those.

Im with it... I actually started probably about a week or two after you so we are near the same milestone... Ive kept it weaved up and now im wigging it Ive learned out of sight out of mind and all that... I tried to transition and it was like everytime I even glanced at the mirror the scissors magically appeared in my hand lol so all the perm is gone...To me the biggest thing is maintaining braids so theres no breakage around your edges and no serious matting when you take them down

and I know its random but I just tried curlformers after seeing reviews on youtube.. in LOVE... I put them in wet no heat and slept on them and had amazing curls.. im thinking its a good alternative if you want a different type of look without the heat damage

I've also seen the YouTube videos with curlformers. I may have to try them. My favorite YouTube channel right now is, jerseystylezz. I love the things that she does to her hair.

My last relaxer was also in December 2010. I did braid-outs up until May and I've had about 3 inches of new growth since February. I've been doing kinky twists starting the end of May and I absolutely love them! I've mainly been using Kids Organics Shea Butter Detangling Moisturizing Hair Lotion and a little bit of regular olive oil grease scalp conditioner. What did you use as a daily moisturizer with your kinky twist? How often did you use it and did the style last long with it? Do you have a certain regimen with your twists?
