New Transitioner Here!!

Hello! I am new to the transitioning process. I am 11 years old and I am going to Big Chop on August 20th, 2011. I am planing on transitioning for 4 months, and I am doing research. I know a lot about natural hair (so far) but I do have a few questions. I have type 4 new growth. I have senegalese twists in atm.

1) My new growth has a tight s-curl to it, what is my curl pattern?

2) Which is better the Tangle Teezer or a wide tooth comb for detangling?

3) Do you think I am too young to BC, and take care of my hair properly?

Please leave any tips below about getting a BC or just any curly hair tips, I need to know as much as possible?

Hello I'm transitioning too! And I think that your not too young to get the big chop its your choice if you want to or not, and if I were you I would use a wide tooth comb because it helps detangle hair better (well too me it does) btw if you change your mind about doing the big chop you can long term transition, just let you natural hair grow out untill your comfortable with the length and then cut the relaxed ends off, but through out long term transitioning use protective hair styles!

Thanks for the tips . My mother said that I was too young, but she is still going to let me do it. She said natural hair is unmanageable, but I am going to prove her wrong !!! Right now I am 1 month post relaxer ! It is nice to find someone who is doing the same thing as me!! Thank you for helping !

I really don't think you're too young to BC, I think it's great that you've decided to BC as young as you are. I wish I would've never permed my hair, but I did.

Also, you won't be able to know your hair type until after you've cut off the permed hair.

Just focus on taking care of your hair while in the braids, providing it with moisture.

I don't think you're too young to properly take care of your hair if you get the products it needs instead of going with what other people are using for their hair.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help again. I feel out of place because mostly adults are going natural lol.
First of all you seem very mature for an eleven year old. My only advice is to make sure that you have your mom's support. It can be expensive (products) and time consuming so you'll need her assistance for the long haul. Good luck.
lol, Thank You. I just have a late birthday, I am supposed to be 12. She was a little bit hesitant at first, but she said yes. Things are pretty expensive :0! My mother and my father help me save money for things by giving me money every few weeks ($ 10 dollars or so.) I just hope she will be supportive when I actually chop off my relaxed hair. That is a different subject. Hopefully everything will turn out great !!
