Default No heat challenge

I'm thinking about going on a anti-heat binge for the summer. I have been heat styling a lot for the past 2 almost 3 weeks. I'm not fond of having my hair heat styled right now because of damage I acquired from relaxers. Right now I want my hair to get into a healthier state while I'm transitioning. I'm going back to my trusty braid outs and buns I began my transitioning journey with. Anyone transitioning or anyone else is welcomed to take part in the challenge. I don't have any set rules I'm following other than not applying heat to my hair for the whole summer. I may apply heat to my hair once for the summer due to a special occasion. I'm also cutting out low heat styling from hooded dryers and blow dryers. I'm just air drying for the whole summer. If anyone has any tips or suggestions on how I can make this challenge more fun or healthier for my hair please feel free to comment. Also if anyone else is interested in doing a not heat challenge along with me please feel free to share your thoughts. As a transitioner, it's easy to get caught up in heat styling and weakening, natural/relaxed hair which can cause serious damage.

I'd love to join! I want to have my hair in it's most healthy state. What do you think about diffusing?

Im also in the process of discontinuing heat from my hair for as long as possible!! So far its been 2wks... I've been wearing a bun but when I get some patience i'll do the braid out. Good luck CG's :-)

That's great! I never tried diffusing my hair. The next blow dryer I'll buy I'll make sure it has a diffuser nozzle. I think it's okay if the setting is on cool. I too want my hair to be health. I think taking advantage of the summer heat should be a great way of practicing heat less styles for when your fully natural. I think for the winter it's fine to use some type of heat because of cold weather conditions.

That's wonderful! Lately I was in a heat styling mood and I'm kind of scared of developing heat damage in the future. I was roller setting and doing a blow out for almost 3 weeks. This week it was weird my hair gotten so straight as if I had a relaxer. That gave me a whole 360 to change my routine.

This is an excellent idea!
The last time I used heat was March. I'm getting a trim/cut this weekend so I may straighten it for that. Otherwise, no heat. Part of the challenge could be to only use heat once a month if you really want to.

My staple styles lately are braid-outs and buns. I'll do something different every now and then, but those two are pretty much it.
