I transitioned for 23 months and I think 2 weeks or something and I when I BC'd my natural hair straight was a bit above my shoulders. My hair type is a mix of 3b/3c (mostly)/4a.

I transitioned for 2 years before i cut the off the heat trained hair. I don't do short hair. The transition period really sucked. I wore my hair mildly flat ironed and only wore it in protective styles for most of that period. It was worth it though my hair is very healthy now. My curly hair was a little past my collarbone when I cut off the rest of the heat trained hair. It was fun to see those first ends curl up. Hair type is 3c.

My hair is mostly 4a. I transitioned for 18 months. I went about my transition all wrong for the first 6 months (flat ironing roughly once a week), but then I learned to style my hair with heat-free methods (mostly buns, twistouts, and braidouts) from this website and youtube.

I haven't straightened my hair since my early transition days. If I pull my hair straight, it reaches my collar bone. When I wear my hair in a twist out or wash and go...well, let me just say that shrinkage is a mutha

Transitioned for 27 months, my hair was APL after I chopped. I'm another one who straightened throughout their transition so i had some damage. I decided to cut it again to collar bone length a few months later. I'm a pretty thorough mix of 3c/4a.

I transitioned for 13mths and my hair was shoulder length when I bc'd. I was another one who did it all wrong at first. I was so used to flat ironing my hair once a week that I continued to do it for the couple of months. Then I discovered braid outs and the last few months I spent in box braids. Btw I'm 4a/b

I transitioned for about 18 months. My hair was about collar bone length when I cut off all the relaxed ends. I have 3c/4a WL hair that shrinks to about my shoulders.

Teri Laflesh's book "Curly Like Me" sits on my desk and everytime I get frustrated and an impulse tells me to shave my head, I look at it in hopes that one day my hair will graze the top of my butt.
