I'm doing box braids . In six months out. I do a perimeter retightning monthly. I remove all braids every 2.5 months. I deep condition and lightly blow dry for braids. I use Taliya Waajid sorT daily and wash braids every two weeks. My hair is 3-4 of new growth

Ita. I am over a yr as well and I plan on transitioning for no less than 3 yrs, maybe 4 max. It was a little frustrating in the beginning bc I had no clue what I was doing. However I have settled into a good reggie now and my transition has been a breeze since month 3. I love my natural hair and I know these last few yrs will fly by. I give it up to those that can bc but short hair is not my thing. When I am completely natural I need hair that is past my shoulders and that I can easily put into a bun. Short hair will not afford me that convenience.

Lol thanks. I'm inching closer to that yr & a half mark so 3 years really doesn't seem that bad. I'm almost to the half way point now so why give up? Believe me tho...I get the urge to cut every time I wash my hair and I see those curls however I KNOW that I do not want super short hair bc a bun is always my fall back hairstyle and I refuse to have my hair too short to do one. So that urge to chop quickly goes away when I remind myself of this.

Just started transition (3 month),, this is my first time,,

I've been relaxing my hair since I was 14 and (am now 2,,

Transition is really difficult and I have about an inch and a half of natural hair,, but I really love my new tiny shiny ringlets

Default 6 weeks post-relaxer

You ladies are awesome. I just recently decided to transition. My last relaxer was only 6 weeks ago. However, I used to stretch my relaxers out for about 4-6 months. I'm also "texlaxed." The first few months should be a breeze...after that I plan to do braidouts, buns, etc. for a good while and slowly cut off my processed hair.

I'm new to this board but old to hair sites in general. I am currently 2 days away from my 11th month. I'm at the point where I'm so excited about my hair that I want to BC but I don't want to because of length. I'm one of those ponytail chicks who will quickly brush my hair into a ponytail. I have had short hair before but I now enjoy the quickness of a ponytail so I don't know when I'll BC. I can't see myself rocking a TWA everyday.

What made me want to go natural was pure curiosity. I wanted to know what my natural hair looked like. It started with 3-4 month stretches. I then did a 6 month stretch think I would BC and then became frustrated and relaxed.

This time around, I started straightening every month just to get that straightened look but since early June, I haven't touched a flat iron. And no, I don't regret it. These last few months have been fun embracing my natural texture and getting to know it.
