Hey girls I a naturally curly beauty (3b) and I always keep my hair curly (it won't stay straight - humidity curls it right back up).

Anyway, I've been noticing the "going natural" trend for a while, and wonder what made YOU decide to go natural? Just curious

Good question ... I was ready for sumthin new and since i run daily i sweat in my hair and figured perms were jus pointless for if i would jus sweat it out the nxt day....

Because I was tired of my hair never growing past my ear lobes whenever I was relaxed. The back of my hair would also never grow as well. Now that I'm natural my hair is growing like crazy. It really makes me happy.

Also, I find it much easier to maintain than my relaxed hair. Don't have to worry about putting up with two different textures and major breakage.

I just decided last night that I am going natural! There are a lot of reasons I made the decision, and it was something I was thinking about for a while now, but last night it was as if everything became clear and I realized I did not need to relax my hair anymore.

I am almost 6 weeks post and I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter with the most beautiful natural hair (3c-4a). I have truly enjoyed learning how to take care of her hair, and now see it's time to take care of mine. I want her to grow up knowing black hair is beautiful, and she does not have to relax if she does not want to.

I have decided not to big chop, but to transition for 2 years. I'll see how it goes. My longest stretch was 12 weeks, and my hair growth was out of control at that point, I felt I needed to relax to gain some leverage. However, I will celebrate when I reach 6 months post, and I am doing all the research now in order to avoid any breakage issues.

It's nice to have forums like this for support!

I became tired of hiding behind hair that wasnt mine(it being strait) and I want to be able to rock wash and go's with my 3c hair again(:

Honestly....I realized I just didnt need chemically teated hair, my natural texture isn't that hard to take care of. And I didn't have two dramatic textures in my hair, they were pretty similar and easy to blend

One salon appointment my hair stylist skipped the touch up, the next one I didnt have time to do it, one appointment lead to another, and eventually I ended up donating my hair to Locks of Love and my stylist said "you know you dont have anymore texturized hair right" and I consider that my unintentional big chop

I honestly think I'm just getting to a point in my life where I want to get to know myself better. My hair has been relaxed since I was 7 years old and I'm curious about my real texture. Also, I had been hearing a lot of horror stories about people getting bad relaxers....I hadn't experienced one yet but I figured I was probably due soon so I should stop the relaxing all together. Not gonna lie...I miss the straight hair...this transitioning stage is tough and my hair is thick as hell!

At first, so my hair could grow past APL and I could straighten it instead of perm. As time went on in my transition, I learned why would I take my beautiful hair and mold it straight? Nothings wrong with it the way God gave it to me. Haven't touched heat in 6 months since transitions going smoothly.

Well it was never my choice to get a relaxer in the first place, my mom and aunt applied it when I was 12....I didn't really know what it was :/ I loved how my hair looked afterwards, it was easy to maintain and everything. Then (about 6 months ago) I realized I'm loving something that isn't mine. I hated the relaxer process and I hated the fact that I couldnt really do wash and goes cause my hair would look stringy and eventually get damaged. With a lot of help from my brother I decided to do the big chop. It was a new me, I was starting a new school where no one knew me so it was pretty cool and intimidating at the same time. I've gotten compliments on my hair and I'm starting to warm up to it. I'm still having a tough time trying to find exactly how to manage it, but I can honestly say I don't regret my BC, I've learned to love my natural hair
