Braided extension...yes....no?

Ive been having a really tough time when it comes to my hair. It's cold out and having to wet my hair in order to control it isn't a very good idea. I've been thinking about getting those braid extensions (I think their called box braids) has anyone tried them? Is it damaging to the hair?

I use box braids all the time. I have them in right now. I love them because I don't have to be bothered with my hair. It's tucked away and all I have to do is oil my scalp with castor oil or coconut oil. They also help my hair grow (since its braided up and tucked away). I'm all for box braids, just don't get them tight because too much tension will cause breakage.

So your hair is braided under the braids or with the braids?

I've been using box braids for my transitioning go to style because they're easy to take care of. I do them myself too since it's also cheaper on my pockets. I wash them every 2-3 weeks with V05 shampoo and I've started spritzing my hair with water and using a combo of grapeseed oil, almond oil, and jojoba oil to moisturize every other day. Your natural hair is braided into the extension hair.
