Hi Ladies , I'm in the midst of transitioning for 3rd time and am a little over 9 months post (last relaxer was March 2011). But this time, I have done much better than in times past because of a few methods I had to learn.

It is hard to find styles that work 5-8 months post relaxer and the twist-outs and buns, etc.. get old fast.

I havn't seen anyone really doing this but I wanted to put it out there for you to try:

Micro's with your own hair.

Just braid the new growth and let the relaxed hair hang free. It makes sense because the newgrowth can hold up on it's own because of the natural curl. I can't count the times that people ask if thats my hair.

My hair is mid-back length.

Awh! I wish I seen this before I cut my hair:/ my hair are in micros right now with hair added but they're not too small. Great idea!

Jubells, that's ok. It's for ladies like you that find it interesting. I just wanted to put it out there, even if it could be helpful to only one person.

If there is one thing I like to, it's sharing information. I cant stand when people keep helpful things to themselves. So, anything I know, I share, especially when it comes to hair.

Nice!!!! How long had you transitioned before your hair would stay braided? I am transitioning without the bc and this is something I would try. Had my last relaxer n July 2011.

Honestly, I would have started doing it at aboput 3-4 months post if I had thought about it sooner. I actually didn't start to braid my hair until about 7-8 months post. But again, you do NOT need to wait that long. The sooner, the better and easier.

When I wash, it isnt as difficult as it use to be, also, the relaxed hair isn't fighting with it's natural state because the two are seperated.

If you have time on your hands, I say try it! Let me know if it works.
