New growth softer than relaxed hair?
Hello ladies,
Last night I tried doing a flat iron on my hair and the ends of my relaxed hair were so dry and brittle afterwards. My hair is usually like that after I straighten it. The ends of my hair are also very weak despite twice a month protein treatments. My new growth has a softer texture and it's way stronger than my relaxed ends. I assume it's best if I stay away from heat all together. Has anyone experienced this? |
yeah I experienced this not too long ago before I realized my hair was protein sensitive. maybe your hair does not need protein twice a month...I would try a conditioner that provides more moisture and is protein free.
I personally like the Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque. it moisturizes my roots and my relaxed hair. |

I've never tried Giovanni, but yeah thats how my hair felt when I was using a conditioner with protein and mineral oil.
and yes the product that worked for me was the Shea Moisture with the yellow label...the one that comes in the jar. I also tried their other shea butter conditioner with the pump, but that also caused breakage for me due to the coconut oil, another ingredient that my hair does not like. once I eliminated protein, mineral oil, and coconut oil from my regimen I noticed my hair was a lot softer and moisturized. |
i forgot to add that the first time I used that Shea Moisture conditioner in the tub I did not feel much of a difference.. but I decided to give it another try since I paid $9.99 for it... the second time I used it was when I really noticed a difference in the texture of my hair.
