I think this is a personal decision that only you can make. I bc'ed early and am so glad I did b/c it was the right thing for me. Other people do long transitions and that's the right thing for them. It's all good.
That said I don't understand the people who come on NC and say their hair is full of split ends or breaking off severely and they don't want to cut it no matter how straggly it looks. That mentality baffles me. I think is someone actually cares about their hair they would get rid of that before there is even more damage to the strands. Because split ends and extreme breakage will get worse if not cut off.
Anyway, if you don't have these problems you can do wet sets like braid/twist outs, rollersets, curlfomers, flexirods. bantu, buns, ect. Or you get go to options like braids, wigs, weaves. If you do cut again it's not the end of the world. Some ladies have bc'ed several times because they wanted to and not because they had to. They just like the shorter style.
