Default Single Strand knots, split ends, and dry hair

I'm having a little dilemma. For the past 3 weeks my hair has been on a roller coaster. One minute it's super moisturized the next it's dry as hay. I have so many single strand knots, which causes me to trim my hair more than I would like (almost every other day) Not cool! I also noticed my ends are splitting too. A lot are pretty far up the hair shaft. I have not used heat on my hair in 3 months. I'm almost 4 months post (June 17). I plan on doing a roller set air dried then blowing out my roots and edges this weekend. I will be doing a serious cut on dry hair to rid myself of splits and knots. I'm starting to think that hair is prone to split ends whether you use heat or not. I need a break from the braid/twist outs and the buns. I purchased some aveda products a couple of weeks ago to help my hair withstand humidity. Does anyone have any tips to help me achieve healthier ends? I will also be doing a light protein treatment this weekend also. I have not done one in like 2 months

I'm the same I'm nearly 15 months post and my hair from relaxed to natural just splits a lot. When I was 6 months I trimmed the ends and sides a bit but nope my hair seems to refuse. So I've sorta acknowledged it now. I mean I still have hair on my head and I do all the things you're supposed to, to avoid them but still nada.

See if this helps you but bagging the ends making sure you put more sealant on the ends.

I tried all methods of keeping my ends moist. Nothing is working. I'm just going cut an inch or 2 off. I doubt I'll use heat though. I have no choice but to cut lol. Ill try bagging with my hair in braids/twists then take them down in the morning and see if it helps. Thanks!

Maybe the problem is that though you have no trouble getting moisture, you don't keep it in. Have you tried sealing with oils? If you just keep adding moisture, especially for porous hair, it might be there one moment then out the next, unless you seal it in. Also, try to use water-based moisturizers. Even if you're in a hurry, you can just wet your hair then apply oil. Water is the best and most natural moisturizer!
