Getting Impatient

Hey ladies, I find myself thinking more and more about cutting my hair (the relaxed ends). The thing is that I'm not even that far out, I'm just over six months post relaxer. I'm sort of afraid losing my APL hair. I guess you can say its sort of my security blanket. :/

I KNOW absolutely for a fact that I do NOT want another relaxer though, which is good! I'm just kinda of having an internal dilemma. Do you ladies struggle with this at all? How do you get through it? Maybe I should get some braids to take a break from my hair for a while.

I've definitely been struggling with being impatient as well. Your hair is your crowning glory, I understand that it's important to you. If you plan on transitioning for a while you could always try a protective style. For the first half of my transition I had a weave, that definitely helped me. You could try that or Senegalese twists or maybe even a wig if you want to have some versatility with your hair. If your impatience gets the best of you, go ahead and big chop. Congratulate yourself on making it 6 months and get ready to rock your TWA! Some people don't even make it that far before they get fed up.

First of all, congrats for making 6 months . It seems that you are not ready to lose your length and to BC this early. Which is ok..transitioning is definitely a mental thing too. Like you said, get yourself some braids and that should give you some growth too.

I transitioned for 22 months, and knew that I did not want to BC within a short period of time..so I tried my best to just keep sticking to that goal. I pretty much just wore a variety of braidout updos for my transition..pretty boring but it got me through for a while lol.

i know how you feel. i waited 9 months to cut mine so I'd have several inches on natural hair to play with. The thing was I got soo sick of having to grades of hair and it was clear by that time how much of a difference there was it was better to cut it. You'll know when you're ready.
Thanks for all the input ladies. The support means so much! But yeah, I think I'm gonna stretch a little longer. Don't wanna make any rash decisions haha. But if it continues to cross my mind (which I think it will) I will seriously consider doing a chop I mean, why give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about . Corny, I know haha but true.

I've been cutting and snipping hair off since day one. I won't necessarily go all out for the big chop. I recently gave myself a mini chop last weekend. My hair was a little past shoulder length now it's maybe chin length now. I have sections and pieces that are already natural. Cut out of curiosity is totally normal!

6 months post relaxer. I will be 7 months post September 17 !!
I definitely feel like you. I'm only three months post relaxer and I want to cut it off. But I know for sure I will be cutting it in September. I want to experience my natural hair in its short state. I don't want to do the bc twice. And if I hate my hair short I know I can get braids.
