Default Transitioning with perm

I am thinking about Transitioning by getting a perm with 2" or 2 1/2" rollers. Right now my hair is to my waist and is really wavy at the top. The bottom 10" is pretty straight due to relaxers. Has anyone else done this? I would love to hear about good or bad experiences.

I an not really sure what hair type I am?? It is a mixture of tight corkscrews, lose waves, 2" curls and some frizz.

Transitioning means growing out and getting rid of a perm or relaxer. If you get a perm that will be a chemical treatment and not a transition. If you decide to transition after the perm then you will have to eventually cut off your entire length rather than the 10 inches of relaxed hair. Your true curl pattern won't show until the weight of the relaxed portion is gone.
