Transitioning means growing out and getting rid of a perm or relaxer. If you get a perm that will be a chemical treatment and not a transition. If you decide to transition after the perm then you will have to eventually cut off your entire length rather than the 10 inches of relaxed hair. Your true curl pattern won't show until the weight of the relaxed portion is gone.
